Mature. Lots of integrated wood notes, dried red and black fruit and a bit of herbs. Fine tannins on the medium finish. Classic Barolo aromas and mouthfeel but on ripe rustic and oaked side of the spectrum.

Last bottle. PnP. Big nose of resiny, sappy red fruits with some sawdust initially. After some air the wood blows off. Tastes like it smells. Nice long finish. Pretty darn good.

Mature and expressive. Lots of integrated wood notes, dried red fruit and a bit of herbs. Still some tannins on the finish.Traditional acidity and mouthfeel. Good but not great Barolo at a solid value at current prices. Should hold at least 3-5 yrs.

Transparent brownish red in color. Nose is a melange of resiny, sappy notes with a whiff of oak. This is in a good place right now. Fully mature. Tastes of red fruits, resin, with underlying grip and acidity and a hint of oak on the finish.

Way better than the last bottle. None of the drying tannins on the finish. Brownish red, plenty of red fruited sappiness with nice grip on the finish. The wood here is fully integrated. I think this is drinking in its prime window if you have well stored bottles.

Transparent, Brownish red when poured, with a noticeable nose of sweet oak. I then decanted the bottle to help the oak blow off. After 45 min the aromas are dominated by a melange of sappy, resiny notes. This is a big wine with lots of grip and bright acidity. To me the drying tannins on the finish are indicative of a bit too much oak.

Opens with some raspberry on the nose, gets darker, fuller and more balsamic with air. Strawberry jam and roses with a hint of oak. The wine is open and forward -- the fruit hits the front of the palate and dissipates quickly. Almost no sap or resiny aromas or texture, very plush, forward and aromatic wine. Shades of lavender, meat and rosewater; kept wishing for more tannins and structural complexity. Pretty now with a 2 hrs decant.

Lots going on with this wine both on the nose & palate. Balsamic, cherries, some florals, a hint of vanilla & some kind of wood on both the nose & palate. Some oak was showing at first, but that dissipated after about 2 hours. This wine is big but also elegant, with lots of flavor, complexity & intensity, very long with lots of fine tannins, and a beautiful but not long finish with a hint of tar. I suppose this wine is still on the young side, but drinks well with a good amount of air. Superb! 93+

Barolo 2000 Vintage Retrospective (i Trulli, NYC): The nose showed dusty black cherry and cinnamon with hints of herbs and a bit of tar. On the palate, I found round, sweet then sour strawberry, spice, and honey tones that turned a bit drying into the finish as a wall of tannin coated the palate. This is a wine that I’d love to check in on in another five years.

A quick look at 00 barolo (Mado, chicago IL): nose: a bit reticent at first and took a good hour or two to really start to open(this had been decanted for a good 90 minutes before the dinner too). Upon opening, lovely, nuanced, and rich tones of red cherries, herbs, bits of spices, red florals, and slight hints of perfumes all melded well together. Very aromatic once it got going and wasn't really showing off much of the hot vintage on the nose as there was a refined nature to it
taste: Elegant and nuanced with medium+ acidity and medium/high tannins that worked well with the food. Delicate tones of red cherries, herbs, red florals, and spices balanced each other out beautifully. Great nuanced and delicate feel while still having a slight bit of robustness to it
overall: Still needs more time, but is starting to come close. Very well balanced and doesn't really have the brighter fruit that 00 gave off. A more seductive barolo and one that requires more attention to detail rather then one that will give you everything on the first or second go

Heat of the vintage comes through on this wine - a bit over-ripe, oak notes not yet integrated. Dense fruit - a good thing - but a little unbalanced.

Very expressive Barolo. Nice fruit with a slight peppery finish. 2 or 3 years of cellaring might improve this, but a very nice Barolo.
