Good acidity propping up a medium bodied Napa Merlot. The palate has some nice complexity, but it is way too early to drink this wine. This has a long life ahead of it and I think 5 to 10 years will integrate this wine. The stuffing is definitely there.

Color is a deep garnet red. Even pouring this from the Coravin you’re immediately hit with a massive bouquet of red fruits. On the nose, cherry, red fruits, herbs, earth, milk chocolate, rose. Palate carries over the red fruit, herbs, and an earthy minerality on the finish. No sign of smoke taint, something I had actually asked Duckhorn about before purchasing. While still delicious, this bottle is obviously too young. Tannins are overwhelming on first pour, this needs another three or five years to settle down and integrate. With some air in the glass, the wine softens and opens up. It could have used a decant. I think this will be exceptional with a few years on it. Love the profile and will be looking for other vintages.

Napa, March 2024 (Napa): Tasted at the winery.
The flagship wine that made Duckhorn famous!
High tannins, grassy notes. Blueberry on the palette.
Somewhat shorter finish than expected.
Will improve with time.
88 points.
