  • gorgeous red roses, plus spruce tips, sweet orange, red cherry candy, airy spice... this is just wailing on the nose, put this in the right glass and you will be in heaven... still a little tight on the palate, but this still gives so much pleasure, medium-bodied, fine tannins, beautiful floral and earthy inner perfume, long and classic, gorgeous tart red fruit and delicate spice linger long, this is superb and will improve for many years.... last vintage with Monvigliero in the blend, future legend?

  • The fruit for the Oderro Poderi e Cantine “classico” comes from a combination of the Bricco Chiesa in La Morra and the Bricco Fiasco in Castiglione Falletto MGAs. The former being considered Oddero’s “home vineyard”.

Poured into a decanter about 30min before service. In the glass, the wine displays a beautiful ruby color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with very pretty notes of Montmorency cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, a bed of roses, orange peel, fresh sage, eucalyptus and crushed rock. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, drying and grippy. This is all about balance and freshness. These are quite giving already but undoubtedly have a long life ahead. Drink now with patience or through 2044.

  • By the bottle at the Restaurant at Hill Farm in Arlington, VT. Needs air, probably should have asked for a decanter. On the last glass or two now and it’s really getting good. Exotic spices, cinnamon, dried cherries, sticky clay, white mushrooms, crushed flowers. Really expressive and complex. Palate is juicy, fresh, red cherry, crushed strawberry, fruit leather, hint of smoky briny earth on the finish. Tons of acidity, tons of tannins but great balance and length. Pretty solid stuff now, going to be fantastic in 10 or 12 years.

  • Piemonte Visit ... end of summer 2023; 8/23/2023-9/25/2023 (Piemonte Alba area): 91/93

From Bricco Chiesa, Cappalot, Fiasc (the famous Scavino one) and Monvigliero for 18 and 19 ... :)

The nose is pronounced with black olives, tapenade, sage, old oak, blood orange, licorice, ... complex and intricate

The palate is grippy and a bit dry but the overall balance thanks to high level of acidity is tremendous, its is drinking so easily, fluid wine, with orange and velvety feel !

    Excellent again

  • Naturally lighter than the Rivetto 2019 tasted side by side. Classic Oddero aromas! Perfume, red cherry, candied cherry, licorice, roses, katsuo?!. Red fruited on the palate - the classic Oddero velvety tannin profile comes through at the finish although less structured than the single MGAs, Very impressive for the classico.

  • at opening a bright young red color, a relaxing nose so endearing you almost overlook its great complexities, plum, wild strawberry, a hint of truffle, cherries, and already notes of pine, on the palate fleshy on the front quickly leading to a savory and restrained finish of very good length with an enduring afterfragrance where rose petals emerge, pine and forest with time in the glass, a day later an almost punchy plum and cherry fruit dominate on the nose, on the palate tar notes have come out and the wine has fleshed out beautifully, still a mid-weight but with remarkable persistence, perfectly ripe, the savory finish has filled out to include the fruit sensations from the midpalate and a bounty of rose petals with a subtle hint of wild cherry, on paper with an objective evaluation this is a very nice low 90s Barolo, but at the table with good food and great company this has a little something extra and is one of the most endearing and promising young Barolos I have had in quite some time, enjoy it a time or two now after an 8+ hour decant- and with just a few years of age it should blossom magnificently.

  • With Isabella

Deep expressive nose with dark cherry fruit, tar, balsam, and lovely savory notes. More substance and depth than the Gallina with great balance. Expansive palate presence with ripe tannins on back end. Effortlessly beautiful. Harmony. A terrific Classico.
