Lopez never maps to the vintage charts, does it? This is one of the most pleasurable Bosconias in years. It has all the trademark feminine, Burgundian elegance but the fruit is warm and still halfway between youthful ripeness and its autumnal stage. It also has a smokiness on the back end that made it a remarkably synergistic, even synaesthetic, wine pairing with applewood smoked vegetables.
Colour: medium(+) ruby Nose: medium(+) intensity, secondary, youthful. Red and black plum, red cherry, strawberry. Leather, earth. Cedar, nutmeg, cinnamon, dark cocoa. Very plush and warm and earthy, like old leather. Palate: dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(-) tannins, medium alcohol (13,5%), medium(-) bodied. Medium(+) intensity, medium length finish. Red and black plum, red cherry, strawberry, cranberry. Leather, earth. Cedar, nutmeg, cinnamon. Fresher and more acid-driven than the nose implies. Conclusions: very good. Can drink now, but suited to further ageing. P&P (pop&pour), not decanted. Seal: natural cork

Stewed fruit on the nose, Tastes surprisingly old, seems a bit drying out, but this might come round in the glass. Old rioja can do funny thing - though for a Rioja this really isn't very old.

Beautiful robe, deep ruby with orange hues. The nose is expressive, with red berries, cherries, plum, cured meat. On the palate, it's light, soft and vivacious, with dried herbs, earthy tones, orange peel and subtle candied notes. Moderate acidity and finishes elegantly. Great QPR, in a great spot right now.

Really great QPR. Decanter and followed for two and a half hours and this continued to grow as it opened up. Delicious now but will age gracefully for at least another decade.

Nice wine. Great QPR at the $35-40 range. Beautiful nose. Red plum, cherry. Earthy, some dried herbs, cured meat, tobacco spice and subtle sweet oak. On the palate the tannins are no more than moderate and very fine. Moderate acidity. Better mid-palate and length than front palate. Builds to an elegant finish. Can hold for a few more years, but thought it drank well now.
Deep ruby colour. Medium (+) and developing nose with red plum, licorice, tobacco, leather, vanilla, cedar, chocolate, coffee, forest floor, mushrooms and wet leaves. Medium (+) taste of red plum, licorice, tobacco, cedar, forest floor, wet leaves, vanilla, mushrooms and black pepper. Long and dry finish it’s. High acidity. Medium tannins. Medium body. A very good Rioja that has matured well. Drink now or over the next ten years. Goes well with beef, duck, lamb or pork.

Sadly, this wine had a smell of hairspray and had a hint of soap in the taste. Switched glasses in case of a "mishap", but same result.

Too fruity and with a hint of sweetness at the opening.
After many hours i finally got out the more earthy notes that should be present in a Bosconia.
Too young right now but the structure of a good vintage is there for sure.

A beautiful color of dark ruby with medium intensity.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing black plums, cherries, light oak, spices, tobacco leaf, earth, dark coffee, light mildew, herbs and black pepper.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 11 year old feels very young. Complex, tasty and better with food.
Needs time to open up properly, so be patient. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Robert Parker 93 points.
I've a few different vintages of this wine and it is very consistent.
I paired it with meats, cheeses and crackers.
Aged for 5 years in used American oak barrels. A blend of 80% Tempranillo with Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$35.
