  • Dark black fruit, dark red cherry, spices and earth notes on the nose. Close to medium bodied (13.5% ABV) with red cherry upfront, moving to darker red cherry and hints of black cherry through the middle. Good structural qualities on the back with moderate, but balanced tannins, spices and earth. It shows nice balance through the mid-body and then has a burst of tartness towards the back for contrast. Also has a saline quality that makes it distinctive. Despite the similarity in name, has nothing to do with Barbera from Piedmont and has no genetic relationship, so comparisons don't provide value. Showing quite well at present with a good mix of fruit notes and structure. (Sarduzzo Enoteca; Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy)
