Dark Purple red with a slightly brighter rim (showing its age). Wonderful tuscany IGT nose with lots of dark berries, cacao, espresso beans, leather and even a hint of pine forest. Unfortunately the palate can't hold up what the nose announced. But still you get quit a bit of fruit and very present tannins. 50% CS, 30% Merlot, 10% CF, 10% Sangiovese

Very good, but not great. A little of the Sangiovese that is matched reasonably well with the Cab. Nothing really wrong with the wine, but I just don't find it as compelling as a great Sangiovese or a great Cab.

Drank from son's magnum brought home from Italy for Thanksgiving dinner. Garnet colored and benefited from an hour decant. Well balanced, with chewy tannins. Dark berries on the nose and palate. Probably a little biased knowing it came direct.

Nice cassis with chocolate, blueberry, floral and leather. Starting to fade but this bottle is just holding on and is a little better than the last. Good balance with drying tannin. Drink up.

Starting to show her age a little. Balanced with a good finish. Coffee bean, dried herbs, leather and dark berry fruit. Was better a few years ago as I remember, still very enjoyable and smooth. Drink up.

Ageing well. Very floral with cherry, plumb, blackberry and leather notes. Very round smooth tannins that are now well integrated into this. Very smooth, lovely and elegant. A little dry tannin on the finish but thats it. This delivers the goods. Sangiovese, cab and merlot. Drink now to 2016.

Earthy dusty tannins initially. Blackberry plum develops, but tooth coating tannins hang in. Better with rich foods. Fats and flavor. Maybe lamb rosemary.

An extremely well done Tuscan blend of Cab, Sangiovese, and Merlot. Excellent balance, which still let the Sangiovese character give a little solo at the beginning of both the nose and the palate. The Cab and Merlot seemed to lay a good solid foundation and gave a long finish. Acid and tannin allow the wine to keep up with bold meats and tasty red sauces. Pleasantly surprised by the overall quality.

No decant. Medium-dark ruby red. Vigorous swirling brings out woodsy/minerally dark berries and cherries on the nose. Palette show big puckering tannins with some nice fruit and decent acid freshness. Though undoubtedly Tuscan, the Cab is predominant here, and it's big tannins could use a year or two more to soften.

This wine is very nice to drink right now. The tannins are just about right and it offers a nice flavor from start to finish. At the price, I'd put this in the "solid value" category.

A little austere and subtle. Gravel, stone, strawberry, blackberry and a little soapy like Italian wines can be. Mild acid and moderate tannin gives a little pucker.

Tasted January 2, 2010 at a retail tasting. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of florals, black berries, plums and soap stone. Flavors of black cherries, black berries and a bit of bitters on the finish. Medium to bright acidity, medium tannins, medium body. Drink or hold.

This wine survived a dinner party by pulling the old exploding cork trick. I put it aside and then opened a week later by pushing in the remnants of the surly little cork. Dark color all the way to the rim and with earthy aromas, this wine turned out medium in body and with dark cherry flavors with hints of licorice. Nice and very food friendly.

Medium bodied red, paired well with my Sicilian-Style Swordfish. Nice fruit & spice aromas, but a little hollow on the mid-palate. Overall a decent blend.

Showing maturity but still fresh. Leather, dark fruit, good length on the finish. A good deal at auction price.

Same basic impression as last bottle. The nose was fairly closed down for this bottle, but the limited expression was quite similar.

Lots of good berry flavor and just enough earthiness to balance the wine well. Paired nicely with spaghetti with tomato and basil.

Floral blackberry, fun wine. Probably worth either decanting for 2-4 hours and/or drinking after 2010 as some have suggested.
