This is a supermarket stalwart which I used to get every year for weekday drinking, but I grew tired of the wood and quite high alcohol of previous vintages, so I stopped. The 2006 is the last vintage I bought, this was my first bottle: good nose of garrigue strawberry, kirsch, fresh herbs and spices and a touch of leather. In the mouth, more of the same, but where this wine differs to preceding vintages is the elegance and finesse. This is a class act, the wine soars to the top of the palate seamlessly, before a second wave of refined spicy fruit that lingers on without excessive heat or the stodginess I encountered before. Highly recommended and excellent value.

Dark Purple. Nose for garique and forest floor. Herbs, garique and blackberry on the palate. Very full bodied, reminiscent of a new world syrah. Finishes with some heat, but not overly so.

Dark purple. Nose is pretty reticent; after swirling, I get some vanilla some dark fruit and a little alc. On the palate, some plum, a little vegetable and some gritty tannin. Finishes with licorice and dust. This is good for the price, but didn't strike me as remarkable in any way.

Popped and poured, consumed over 2 nights. Didn't take detailed notes but liked for what it was: dark red fruits, forest floor, nicely balanced if somewhat rustic. Got it on sale and would definitely buy again at sub $13.

Ruby red color. Lots of dust, funk, and forest floor on the nose. Same on the palate, along with some restrained red cherry fruit. Rather subdued wine, but in a good way. Well-structured, balanced, delightful, but it does come across as rustic. Give it an hour to breathe.

Wines of the Languedoc under $40: Purple/ruby in color. The nose has spice, slight roasted meats and raspberries. On the palate, sweet raspberry jam. Long finish. This seemed slightly one dimensional but was expanding with air. The group preferred this more than I, although I certainly liked it.

The nose burst with a perfume of classic Languedoc, very fragrent and a pointed nose with spicey bing cherry and a touch Colorado pine mixed with cedar. This mid palette loses a bit of the showing flavors but the finish is bold with mild tannins and jolly Christmas plums. I paired this wine with a Greek spiced lamb leg, this is an excellent wine and probably is best in its youth. I highly recommend and would purchase higher quantities to watch this wine evolve.
