It always reminds me how Grandes Ruchottes can be. Great mid-age development with a bit of toffee/nougat behind the citrus fruits - now turning more into confit direction rather than fresh one. Good length and fully wrapping the palate. Good complexity, lovely. 16.5/20

Real lovely example how great 1er cru can age and show up. Complex and delicious, keep improving after opening up in an hour. I still remember tasting this cuvee blind from the tank with Alex and it was a clear step up from other 1er crus. 16.5/20

Still going well, another good condition bottle from this case. Healthy medium golden yellow colour. Honeysuckle, white flowers and yellow fruits on the nose. Balanced palate with still lively acidity, very harmonious complexity. Not a blockbuster like the grand cru but certainly better than many other premier crus - though I feel the gap between his Grandes Ruchottes in recent vintage is even smaller vs his grand crus. 16/20

Still holding well, consistent with my previous notes. Fully opened up after an hour or two. If the finish is finer it would be great. Solid 1er cru performance. 16/20

Consistent with previous bottles. Medium pale yellow colour, still a lot of freshness. A more complex palate and longer length vs the 2002 with good mineral cut. Still feeling young and have plenty of ages ahead. Would love to see its full potential. 16+/20

Same as previous bottle, still holding good energy and complexity. Lovely minerality and shows how good Les Grandes Ruchottes can be. Saved half a bottle for the next day but advanced much. Recommend drinking in next 2-4 years for best pleasure. 16/20

A much fresher nose and palate vs the 2002. Acidity still refreshing with good minerality covering citrus fruits. Good length and continue to expand on the palate. Good development but no hurry in consumption. Great value! 16+/20

Lemon and apple throughout with spice hints. Moderate weight and intensity, highlighted by its excellent balance and great minerally textures. Drinking very well, no hurry to drink them quickly. Quintessential Chassagne.

Meyer lemon, lemon zest, slate, sweet vanilla and, with air, an increasing amount of anise on the nose. Full on the palate with more lemon, fennel, floral notes and tarragon. Massive poise and power. High acidity. Finishes a bit hot. Although I don't suspect this saw more than 30% new oak, there was a somewhat distracting level of wood influence.

Pre-Birthday Warmup Dinner with Friends (Yusho - Chicago IL): Tasted alongside Ramonet's Chassagne-Montrachet Ruchottes. This was more lemon and lemon zest with some faint apple hints on both nose and palate. Moderate weight, density and length. Very well textured. Very classic.

La Paulée Zachy's Auction - Thursday (Le Bernardin Privé): Gorgeous nose with mature and just slightly oxidized fruit. Palate is rich and juicy. Still lush and fresh. No upside in holding, I'd guess.

Zachys La Paulee Auction; 3/5/2020-3/6/2020 (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Lots of apple, some lemon notes with a floral start. Still very fresh with good length. Tired when revisited at the end of the day, but by then it had been open 3 hours.

Blind White Tasting: Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Grandes Ruchottes (The Blanchard - Chicago IL): Served double blind in 04/06 Ruchottes flight. Nicely mature apple and pear with moderate weight, excellent balance. Slightly less finessed than the Ramonet 2004. Holding up great.

Wine with Grilled Meat (Chez Whitehead - Northbrook IL): Apple and lemon aromas, same again on palate with some lemon peel. Subtle spice, good weight. Still in the middle of its drinking window.
