  • I was worried about a case of this wine sitting in the cellar for this long. The wax on the cork is a pain in the neck and even though it was kept perfectly, the cork was dry and needed a lot of care to remove as it was breaking apart.

I thinking it probably needs a couple more years to mellow down as there is still a lot of oak. However, 90mins of decanting did wonders for this wine and it started drinking much better.

  • Pale garnet with significant rim browning. Oak, vanilla, cherry. Low acids, low tannins. Clove. Medium balanced finish. Vertical at our house

  • Mike's wine. Opened for 30 min, then decanted for another 30. This was initially quite tight and tannic, not showing much complexity. A SuperTuscan blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot, it started showing some red cherry and cranberry fruit towards the end of the bottle. Definitely not a favorite, and the damned wax capsule chipped off everywhere, ending up in the wine glasses!
