Great color for a 1991. A bit exuberant in the new world style, but the herbal and lead pencil notes keep the whole thing in check. High extraction, but tannins fully resolved and a long finish. This is very good and aged well.

Very very good wine. Tasted blind and thought of left bank 98, never would have put this in Napa. So really good wine making here, wine is totally at its peak and harmonious.

Joe Heitz CAB rocks! My last of ten bottles. At 25+ years, still very vibrant and lush. Not quite as floral as I had expected but clearly well built to age a very long time. A benchmark Napa CAB.

One of my favorite vintage CABs. At 25 years young, this 1991 retains its beautiful floral with lucious dark cherry as the primary fruit. Very robust and full of Life. Joe Heitz deserves kudos!

Absolute perfection! Smooth silky deep bold garnet with tons of complex floral aroma. Joe Heitz was a Napa CAB Master long before anyone else. This vintage is a gem.

Absolutely agree w recent notes: Classic Heitz profile. 25 year old CAB with limited fruit but beautifully smooth blackberry tar that gets better over a two hour decant. Probably not at the caliber of "Martha's" but certainly stellar for a bottle with its $23 price tag still on it!

This held up pretty well but was definitely ready to drink. Dark, with a surprising amount of fruit for its age. Enjoyed with beef tenderloin with Dijon and black pepper.

Cork broke halfway out but managed to salvage. Nice ruby color with mature Cab aromas. Started out with some nice dark fruit but dried out on the finish. Definitely past its prime.

Cork dry and lower half broke off and crumbled. Opaque, dark cranberry in color. Some graphite and leather on the nose that becomes more pronounced after 30-40 minutes in the decanter. Tannins started to blossom after a while as well. Initially we thought this bottle was flawed and the wine well over the hill....but improved dramatically after time in the decanter.

Drank this after a 1990 Martha's Vineyard. All thought this was not quite the level of MV and it showed considerably more tannins suggesting it would last at least a few more years, but still very tasty. Dark fruit, fairly big, very nice match with grilled leg of lamb.

Lovely hint of dark berry fruit, slightly earthier and lower pitched notes than the 1990 Hess and 1982 Burgess. Good present tannins, somewhat muscular in comparison, and showing really well right now. It's in a good place, although it has enough stuffing to keep it going for another 5 years IMHO. Very solid for this level too.

'80s and '90s California Cab Tasting w/ Bob Macdonald (Our House): Much oakier nose than the '85 Heitz Martha's Vineyard, tasted side-by-side (see TN). Nose of matchstick and dark fruit. On the palate this is blocky, intense, and a touch bloody/swampy, with large-scaled dark fruit, spearmint, and fresh herbs. This was very good, but didn't quite come together for me.

Still good. Lots of menthol on the palate. Although there is some complexity from age this wine lacks real depth or length. Drink now.
