  • Still holding on, but this is a drink now to me. Has the violets on the nose and some scents cherry and mint. Was very light on the palate though, some cherry fruit but not overly prominent and falling off for a somewhat short finish. Still for declassified grapes from a vintage with no declared wines from the main Giacosa production, this was an interesting look at what was possible in a quite difficult year for them.

  • Nice Nebbiolo, in a good place now. The fruit is red to dark tones, the palate is round and soft, the tannins light, and the overall impression is a cohesive, balanced, pretty wine. The fruit darkens with air. Nice midweek wine, drinking well.

  • On the first night, somewhat murky and uninteresting. But on the second and third nights, just lovely - the cherry fruit is at the fore, surrounded by softening yet still puckering tannins, and lots of Nebbiolo perfume and charm.

  • A crystalline delicate Nebbiolo, shy and tannic out of the bottle, in the decanter this opened up. Delicious, refined and fresh strawberry, tar and rose flavours are well presented. Most definitely not a baby Barolo due to the lack of power but an excellent Nebbiolo all the same. 90

  • Excellent and already available young Nebbiolo from Bruno Giacosa, I wish I had more bottles of this one.

  • Very enjoyable. There is really solid cherry fruit here, very pure and attractive, and I'll be damned if the label "Burgundian" doesn't apply to this wine right now. Nice, caressing tannins. This has improved in the cellar over the last few years, and is a very compelling wine right now - especially at its pricepoint vis. Giacosa Barolo/Barbaresco - and is far better than my tasting note below from 4.5 years ago (which, admittedly, I don't really understand today). No degradation overnight, still showing terrific cherry fruit, now also showing interesting pot roast notes, meaty and brothy. Anyway, solid. Bottle # 0677.

  • 175,- på tilbud hos Theis
    Drukket til vinklub Piemonte tema
Meget mineralsk nebbiolo udtryk.

  • Medium ruby color. Slight vanilla oak and red fruit aromas leading into strong red fruit cherry and strawberry fruit flavors. Floral on the medium+ finish. Balanced. A very fruity expression of Nebbiolo but definitely worth a try. Bottle 788.

  • Rigtig dejlig. Moden og fuld af livskraft. Flot ren frugt i duft og smag (mest sidstævnte) og god balance. Kan matche en hel del Baroloer.

  • Light ruby-garnet color. Sweet bright fruit with a small dose of tannin. A lovely little wine, but surprisingly expansive and complex. Tar, roses, and black fruit. Light, but still Giacosa. An amazing value at $18. Should soften and come together in a year or so, then drink well for maybe 10 more!
Open one week! Still in terrific shape. Holds up well with a rib eye. Really nice stuff.

  • This is elegant, well integrated with lots of red fruit. A very good everyday wine. Not the most complex nebbiolo, but very happy to have 5 more at the $19 I paid

  • Didn't take any notes, but this was a very nice wine. Well balanced, good acidity, good mix of red and dark fruit, but stylish and light on its feet. I don't understand the couple of bad to mediocre notes on this wine -- my experience was totally different. That said, the price is high for what it is.

  • Another watered down Italian disaster. Is this just in a dumb phase, or what. $45 for this crapper. Why must I pay over $50 for a decent Italian wine that’s ready to drink. Seems like everything I find from Alba is watered down (strike three).

  • Bright and fruity off the bat, almost Beaujolais-like in its lightness. On the palate, there is a strong layer of what seems like oak, but I suspect is really just strong yeast. Strongly red-fruited, mostly strawberry and cherry, which on day two becomes more focused and more raspberry, and the yeastiness is much reduced. Not very deep. This is the young, somewhat mentally challenged side of Nebbiolo. Drink short term. Honestly, I think I would rather drink Giacosa's Barbera than this one, at least right now.
