Had forgotten about this one off cellar purchase, and just had over wkd. Cork was crumbling but seemed like no leakage. Wine was pretty bad though, major alcohol on the nose and taste. Tawny color, LOTS of sediment. Didn't get better with additional decanting time on day one. Couldn't drink much more so saved rest in hope it gets better but I'm not holding out. Maybe it was good years ago, I only had this one bottle....
This bottle had less of the acetone smell. In fact, I did not notice it until reading my previous reviews. Its still there, but does not bother much. Bottle variation? Or time?

As some of the other tasters here say, there is a bit of thinness to this wine, but I do not get the acetone hint that is mentioned. This tastes as a slightly out of balance vintage port with secondary characteristics - very enjoyable with the Stilton I had with it, but nothing terribly special. I would buy again for $25/bottle, the price i paid for this one last year, but it must be a bummer to have bought this years ago for more. Do not seek out, but if you see a good buy go for it. Will probably go for 2-3 more years in its current state.

Last bottle was bad, oxidized, smell of acetone. So I opened another one. This one is much better, but signs of age start to show. These half-bottles should go soon. Acetone impression still lingers in my mouth, I guess this bottle has some too. Wine is rather thin, alcoholic, ending in a rather low score.

This one has quite oxidized note, in color, smell and taste.. Some acetone smell, not to big, but quite alcoholic impression. Maybe a bad bottle? No rating given.

A nice dark coloring without any bricking on the edge. A calm port with notes of rich black fruit, some chocolate and a hint of mint. Paired perfectly with the chocolate birthday cake!

Nice dark coloring with no hint of bricking. Good flavors of young red fruits, (cherry, raspberry), vanilla, leather, and chocolate. Very smooth with no hint of an afterbite, and no hint of over ripeness (no raisins). Decanted about 2 hours before serving. No rush to consume the remainder of these.

A healthy dark red color with no hint of bricking. Flavors of fruit with a little bit of earth and tobacco starting to show. A tad light for a vintage port but very smooth. At 14 this one is approaching its peak as there were no hints of alcohol or pruny raisiny dried fruit flavors. A good but not powerful port.

Tried it again. And here it is, the acetone hint. Otherwise quite thin. Sorry, not my favorite.

My Birthday (Palate Food + Wine): Decent, if simple, VP. Reminded of an LBV--plum and sweet, sweet caramel, but not a lot of complexity.
