Remoissenet Clos Vougeot Vertical (Beaune): Drank in Beaune at Remoissenet Cellars - perfect provenance. Huge colour, fantastic intensity. Palate has a really sweet core of ripe fruit. Beautiful balance and very long.

Similar to the previous bottle, this had a satuarated cork and some stinky, sludglike seepage. But the wine was quite nice, showing lovely balance and classy rose petal and tea leaf notes. Drink soon.

Medium garnet to rust color. After a big blast of horse manure upon first sniff, this did settle down a bit to reveal pure earth and truffle. Going over the hill, but not quite dead. This bottle did have a thouroughly saturated cork.

Still my favorite, Remoissenet continues to consistently deliver the finest in Burgundy. I opened this thinking it "needed" to be drunk. It could have gone another 5 years. It was beautiful from start to finish with two of the people with us saying it was "the best wine they have ever had". We opened and tasted it immediately and it was ready to go. Half hour later it blossomed into another wine totally with much more fruit and a finish only an old Burgundy can provide.

Intially slightly ketonic but opens up nicely. Very developed mushroom and wrath and fruity overtones

Nose was a hit oxidized. Showing maturity and (a bit too much) wet leaves. Palate was a nice surprise. Rich core of red cherry fruit and earth.
