This wine is showing very well. Deep colour, the fruit is holding up well and there's a good underlying structure of softened tannins. No hurry to drink up.

Didn't decant, tasted over 4 hours. Dark garnet, a bit cloudy. On the nose, blackberries, with hints of tar, leather and barnyard In the mouth, the fruit dominates, tannin appear fully resolved, a bit of funk and tar on the finish - just enough to add complexity. It probably would stand to be decanted for ~1 hour or so. Was perfectly nice with TJ tri-tip roast. Will probably last for a few years, but very good now.

Meaty, well-devloped nose with a lot of barnyard and leather. There's also a lot of oak influences like ink and cedar. After a while the meatiness combines with iron minerality and a nice plum fruit. Not very origin characteristic. Still tannic and quite generous palate. Toasty oak and coffee. Dark fruit flavors combines with smoked sausage. Quite harmonius with some grip. Minerally finish. The style is too modern for my taste. A generous wine but hard to recognize as a typical northern Rhône. Don't think this will benefit from more cellaring.

Not showing all the cornas hallmarks, but did have some lovely secondary funk, farmyard/mineral notes, a hint of spice. Silky and rich on the palate, tannins have totally melded to the wine and everything is in harmony. From the last few btls i would say this is at or perhaps just a little past it's best. Drink up.

D.C. Dinner for Greg Golec (Toscana Cafe - DC): Not the style of Cornas that I enjoy. This is forward and driven by sweet red fruit and sadly lacking any of the rusticity that I love in Cornas. Colombo's style shines through here incredibly well.

Very cool. It's big and modern like most Colombo versions of the classic Rhone wines, but there's enough age and some of that 8-12 yr. cornas funk. It's an interesting mix with big blackberry/ blueberry fruit, garrique and a hint of (sanitized) barnyard.

Excellent wine, very rich, unmistakably syrah. This seemed new world-ish; heavier in the mouth than I expect from a northern rhone. Hint of eucalypt on the nose with iron, beef and pepper on the palate.

Decanted one hour, consumed over the next 2. Purplish red color, very uniform. Earthy, gamy, leather nose, faint hit of barnyard. Very fresh in the mouth, inviting, caressing, smooth, sweet tannins. Long smooth finish. A nice wine that has lots of life left.

Full bodied wine with plenty to keep you interested, but disjoint and rough around the edges.

Pitt Group-Rhone (Bigelow Grille-Pittsburgh): Tasted blind. Good strong nose. Palate was earthy, dark fruit, meaty with some band aid. Long lasting finish.
