Dark, ripe and interesting. Still with pretty fresh acidity, juicy tannins with a sweet dark cherry, berry finish. Complex with sweet, jammy fruit, dry, bitterness, tar and some paint on the finish. Interesting and drinking very well. Seems to be in no danger of fading soon.
Note: after writing this, read the original gragiste post on this. Actually pretty accurate - nice character with nice bitterness and acidity on the finish.

Discovering that Mencia is not my style and won't buy any more of it. Dark purple, dark blue fruit, some spice & cedar but very rough. Had it open two days and did not improve for me. A flat point in the middle that just makes it totally unpleasant. Don't know how it got a 90 from IWC. Too tough to finish. Will give away my 2nd bottle of this.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of licorice, boysenberry, white pepper and violets. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and boysenberry. Medium acidity, medium tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink now through the next 3-4 years plus or minus.

Pretty enjoyable, but drink up. Dark, spicy fruit, smoothness from oak, with minerality of Mencia. Enough structure, but somewhat chocolatey too, to me in Mencia suggests it is heading over the hump. Again, pretty enjoyable by the glass as a ful red, with some edges, and floral, spicy Mencia character.

Staff Favorites (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had cedar and spice, blueberry, and cherry. The palate had blueberry and spice, cedar and earth, and a good cherry finish.

Very nice and still very young. Significantly better on the second day. Hold if you have the patience (I didn't). Tanzer's (Josh Raynolds) note is on the money.

A little acerbic straight out of the bottle, mellowed by the second day but a touch raisiny. Probably past its prime.

Lots of Brett, mellowed nicely by the second day, plenty of fruit and tannin to last a bit longer, and definitely one to let breathe if drinking now.

Dark and concentrated with nice acidity -a little rough around the edges but a nice juicy food wine. Still slightly tannic.

Not bad, "doesn't do any harm", but not any more than that.
