Still impressing with great balance and a fresh, elegant flavor that's got great flavors of complex pie cherry. Do a blind tasting with wines 3 times the price and risk loosing friends because this will be a standout.

A nice garnet color. Nose of earthy overripe cherry and floral bouquet with a definite minty, wintergreen presence. Palate was earthy and soft, with a mild taste; less spice than I prefer. A slightly acidic finish. For the price, this is a decent everyday pinot, but nothing to write home about. Paired well with a grilled cheese sandwich. :)

Pop and pour. Classic Pinot appearance. Some jerky and pepper on the nose with quite a bit of heat--not much fruit. Very light in the mouth with a nice touch of acid. Initially, not much there, but it is made up for by a finish that is relatively lengthy with peppery-butter notes. A bit hot and some bitterness, however. Edit--with some air, the fruit improves and the bitterness fades +2 points.

Maybe a problem bottle, but this wine was noticeably pruny and vegetal on noise and palate, with no appreciable Pinot character. Not a wine I'd seek out again, on this showing.

Similar score and very similar tasting experience with this second bottle. Enjoyed with Kim and good friends Randy and Cavelle Holbrook earlier tonight at the newly re-opened Table 220 downtown Hickory NC. A decent little entry level central coast CA pinot and reasonable QPR at this price point. Ruby red, bright with medium body, balanced and brief aftertaste. Bright and dry nose of cherry, white pepper and dark plum. Primary flavors consisted of bing cherry, plum, raspberry and development of some black pepper late on palate.

Sampled over a couple of days. My first impression was that this wine still had good bright fruit, but was less rich than prior years and had a strong green, peppers (by that I mean green pepper) streak to it. This green flavor faded by the next day, which was a good thing, and it was really enjoyable as a light, middle-of-the-week wine the next day. Price is right too.

darker cherry fruit and lighter body a la monterey. burgundian express of minerality on the nose. palate shows easy wood accessibility. nice present medium acid and light spice and minerality w/ a darker pinot fruit component on the palate.

Central Coast Pinot Noir (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): raspberry fruit and a modest hand at some french oak. lightly expressing dark earth. tangy spice. is there RS in here??? nice and easy. All sourced fruit??? Ben calls Monterey as usually with a tomato component, but not here.

They are a co-op winery that is sourced fruit. The Pinot is actually all monterey but the rest of the line is cali. Touch green with notes of tomato and veg. (which I associate with Monterey Pinot). Not bad at $16.99.

Didn't like it as much as the last time. Still had the cherry/strawberry thing going on, but there was a sweetness that was, well...sweet. I still put it in the good category. Although if I was a Pinot guy, I don't think I'd like it at all.

Enjoyed with Kim earlier tonight at a pharmaceutical dinner in Hickory NC. A really decent little entry level central coast CA pinot, a reasonable QPR at this price point even for restaurant prices. Almost ruby red, bright with medium body and little aftertaste. Pungent nose of cherry, cola and white pepper. Primary flavors consisted of bing cherry, plum, raspberry and brambles.

Light color, like strawberry soda. Strawberry and rhubarb flavor. Fairly thin and uninteresting.

Very drinkable. Strong fruit, cherry flavor. Earthy mid palate, low-med acidity. Good for price.

First taste is OK, but then it turns metallic across the palate. Better with food, but not by much.

Light, color is not deep, no real bouquet. Tastes thin, acidic. Seems like $8-10.
