Quite similar to the previous bottle from about 6 months ago with lots of structure, tropical notes, oak, texture, etc. Really a great mix of all things you would expect from a Chardonnay but in comparison to a few others I have had recently, it doesn't stand out enough to justify the higher price tag. However, Argyle does a lot of really nice wines at nearly every price point so I would recommend those unfamiliar with their wines to give them a try.

Clear light yellow color, with a hint of green. Nose has green apple, citrus and a creaminess. Taste has vanilla, green apple, citrus and minerals. Finishes clean and semi-dry with a tang. Overall, crisp and light with a touch of sweetness.

The Spirithouse Chardonnay was last produced by Argyle in the 2000 vintage and is apparently only produced in good vintages and in quite limited quantity. There is a lot of structure here with fresh, tangy, citrus flavors mixed with toasted oak and a bit of spice. The texture is quite smooth as well but I just get the feeling that this would be even better if it has time to age and allow all the different pieces to come together. Very nicely made but I'll save the next bottle for quite some time before trying this again.

A touch hot. But it's got lots of minerality and petroleum. Oily and leesy.
