Premiere Napa Valley wine. #30/60 bottles for this lot. This was delicious but suffered from being drunk along side a 2006 Cardinale. This just didn't have the same elegance or charm but still an absolute treat. Very glad to have tasted this wine. Drinking very well at this stage.

As usual a very nice bottle from Cakebread. Might not be their best vintage, fruit a bit overwhelmed with oak/wood. Things did smooth out with a bit of air.

Pours a deep purple. Classic Cabernet aroma with cassis, plum, some vegetalness and purple fruit most noticeable.
Tannins are surprisingly noticeable, obscuring the purple fruit and vegetal notes. A bit of heat pokes through as well. Short finish. Wine was a pop and pour -- recommend a decant or hold for a couple years.

Opened and decanted, enjoyed the wine over several hours with a good steak. It took about 30-45 minutes to open up, but when it did, it was a terrific California cab, smooth and well balanced with lots of nuance and nothing too overpowering.

Incredible effort. Most unique flavor profile that I cannot adequately describe. Great tannins, good Howell Mtn fruit, may benefit from a little more cellar time.

Tom's Big B-Day Dinner (Pearl (Bellevue, WA)): The nose had dark cherry, currant, spice and a nutty aroma. The palate showed currant, plum, spice and a nice earthy note. I was surprised that this had Howell Mountain fruit in it, because I can usually pick out a loamy-like flavor that I don't really enjoy from Howell Mountain wines. Not this time - this was a nice wine with a good mouthfeel and fairly long finish.

Heavy on the tannin. Cherry flavor. Prefer dry, pepper flavor.

Doesn't disappoint, very good wine. But if any criticism, thin, finish not overwhelming. But flavorful and good.

drank side by side with the 2004. It was better than the 2004 but not what I remember from the last bottle I drank.

Bold, very rich full and complex nose and finish. Will continue to become more interesting with age.
