Sans Liege: Tasting room pour. Sweet cherry nose with light oak. Bright cherry palate with cherry cola chocolate and a touch of menthol. Light tannic structure and very open and approachable. Decent acidity and med length finish. Poured as part of a vertical of '05-'07 and '09.

I continue to get rhubarb and spice more than black fruit on the nose, with a little bit of earthy tar. In the mouth, up front big black fruit and kiwi again. Then comes spice and berry and cigar box. Finish with blackberry and cinnamon. I love how much this affordable wine has to offer. so happy i have a few left.

Pop & pour. A nice, well balanced Rhone blend. It had good fruit, but not too much. It was concentrated, but not too much. It had great structure, but not too much. This wine was just so well balanced .............

The cork didn't look so good and opened a little flat so I was worried about it, but with a couple hours of air it showed great. Very complex nose with notes of earth and spices and an equally complex palate. On a table with some first rate wines only a 2005 Volnay beat it out. Great value wine.

At room temperature, the nose suggests heavy new oak, and the palate removes all doubt. Some pretty black fruit manages to peek through, but wood is the primary factor. Refrigerate this, however, and the oak recedes, revealing gobs of fresh blackberries. Really pretty at cellar temperature or below -- fat and overdone at room temperature. Most people at our barbecue preferred the Perrin & Fils Cotes du Rhone Villages, which has a similar varietal composition but exhibits French restraint and terroir and costs significantly less. But if pretty labels are your thing, by all means choose this one.

Decanted. Nose of red and black fruit with bacon fat prominent. Wonderful flow of flavors over palate. Blackberry and kiwi fruit up front. Next is overlay of cinnamon, followed by powerful smokey spiciness. Closes with smoke and a controlled tanginess.

Fantastic: we bought this due to its immediate drinkability, took it to Ray and Bonnie's for tacos ad it came through. Surprisingly lacking in the sweetness that could happen with this blend. I highly recommend.

Wonderful. Rhubarb, smoked bacon fat and spice on the nose. Complex in the mouth with blackberry, cinnamon, smoke, and floral elements. Big fruit which drinks great on its own. Smoke and modest tanginess makes great with food.

Luscious dark cherries and berries, smooth tannins. Finish has a bright burst of acidity, hint of gingersnap.
