Clear deep garnet, clean nose, medium + intensity. Fully developed with aromas of (fading) black fruits, hint of cola and meat. Dry, medium+ tannin, medium acid, full bodied and high alcohol. Pronounced flavor intensity, ripe dark fruits almost on the jammy side, leather and spice. Long finish. Excellent. Last bottle I shall hold for a year or two.

Drank over a couple hours, aromas of blue and black fruit with a hint of smoked meat. Red and black fruit on the palate with some wood. Shortish finish. Seems to be on the down side.

The Old Lakeville needed about 2 hours after opening to get settled in. Was initially a little jammy and thick. Be patient, after a quick taste put the bottle aside. The Syrah opened up in to a beautifully integrated brooding rasblackberry with ripe dark fruit undertones that meanders down the palate over small light tannin's with the lighter notes holding the pitch longest. This is a wonderful wine.

Decanted for 2 hours. Inky purple/black color. Spicy, smoky nose with lavender, fennel and licorice leads to flavors of dark fruit and powdery tannins. Rich and moderately intense with a dry finish, I would suggest drinking this in the near term. Now through 2015

Pulled this beauty from my cellar last week and glad I did. Drinking wonderfully with nice integrated tannins and resolved berry fruit. Perfect with Taylor's bone in ribeye. One more bottle and I think I'll wait a few years.

Somewhat funky nose, a little dirty/musty with fruit and cola. Flavors of raspberry and blackberry with coffee and mild spice and vanilla. Was a nice compliment to a salt and peppered ribeye steak. Have a couple more that will let sit for a couple years.

My final bottle, and sadly it seemed to be in an awkward stage. Still a monster, with blackberry, blueberry and coffee flavors pulsing through it. But the tannins were brutal, bordering on astringent. If you have this in your cellar, do yourself a favor and let it sleep.

Decanted. Dark, slightly-purple blood red. Opaque. Has LEGS. Nose tight but shows hints of berry, vanilla and spice. Blackberry, blueberry, a bit of bramble. Creamy, rich mouthfeel.

Finished this bottle under the worst possible circumstances, during a suffocating heat wave. Absolutely NOT what you want to be drinking when temps are spiking. A big wine to begin with, it was overwhelmingly syrupy, cloying, and overbearing as it warmed. On the first night, under better conditions, it was more or less consistent with prior bottles: dark fruit, coffee, and a big hit of (black cherry?) cola. Withholding a score on this one because I was not able to be objective.

Liked better than the Bedrock Cab which we had immediately prior. Again, I see this improving over time, but not lasting in my cellar. I'll need to stash one away in the corner if I want to see how it is in 5-10 years. Nice dark fruit. Drank with tenderloin roast at poker night and dominated the steak..... Great finish.

For my taste the winner of the night--although I don't know that I'd be able to put it with anything other than a hearty stew or big steak. Inky in color, stained my teeth pretty well too. Great fruit and complexity, will only improve with age, but will be hard to keep any longer than 1-2 years in my cellar....

Wow. Deep, dark, powerful purple. Berries, violets, and graphite. Decanted two hours and poured back into bottle. Tannins in evidence but not overpowering. Drinkable now, but will be really interesting to see what it's like with a few more years in the bottle.

Funky, vegetal/stalky nose with olive and tart fruit notes. Burst of berry fruit on the palate that evolves back into some vegetal/stalky notes with peppery spiciness. Lots of evolution on the palate and finish - quite complex. Medium to strong tannin presence. Long finish. This is really, really good syrah.

Excellent full body with silky mouthfeel. Menthol, dark berries and figs on the nose. Coffee, eucalyptus, and stunning purity of fruit on the palate. A long, resonating finish. Wrapped in layers of massive -- but smooth and refined -- tannins right now. Should sail through some additional cellaring time. A beautiful wine.

Great nose with barnyard and figs, good aromatics on the palate with distinctive eucalyptus flavors; a bit harsh right now from the 30% whole clusters--nevertheless, outstanding. Will certainly improve with another 2-3 years of cellaring. 91-92.

A monster waiting to evolve. Looks like blood in the glass and just as thick. A promising future drinker but not ready.

Consistent with prior note. Still amazed by the freshness of the fruit. A powerful wine, but with great balance. Wonderful acidity.
