Deep garnet in color, aromas of earthy crushed red fruit and smoke. Palate showed funky, earthiness surrounding flavors of raspberry, tart black plum and truffle. Touch of oxidation nearly masked the interesting fruit, and the finish was sharp and short. Might have been a bad bottle, but enjoyable enough.

Popped and poured through a vinturri then let sit for about half an hour. Ruby in appearance. Am getting some bright red cherries and like a woody/smoked wood component and a hint of muskiness that another reviewer noted. Peppery on the palate along with some dark red fruits to go along with some minerality. The wine to me is subtle, somewhat hiding its complexities from me that maybe some cellar time will benefit this greatly. Also, if I would've tasted this blind, I would guess that this is pinot noir and not syrah.

Deep ruby to inky black in glass. 13% alc. This is so fresh. Neutral but with presence. Very elegant and works so well with food which is what I love about Syrah from St Joseph. The wine boasts fresh acids as well as dusty fine grain tannins which makes this so versatile that it could pair with light to heavier dishes. gamey, minerally, baking spices, cloves, allspice, pimento, sorrel, black cherry on the nose with matching palate.

Subtle expression on the nose with surprising bright cherry acid on the palate upon first approach. Let this wine open up and it begins to sing with notes of dark fruit and subtle minerals climaxing with a bold pepper spice characteristic of the Rhone Syrah varietal.

Quite deep purple. Strong nose of rich fruit cake. Super tasty entry, rich black olive and coffee comes on quite strong with the finish. This is quite rich and ripe. Modern style that is not overdone but certainly pushing the extraction limits for me.

Great southern Rhone. Lacks some of the spice and more exotic flavors but has a balanced, rounded fruit and medium body. Nice texture in the mouth. Consistent. Very good.

This is a very fine European approach to the grape, with the fruit present, but not overpowering and with a delicate, almost musk like smell and sense to it. There is a modest amount of tannins and an overwhelming sense of complexity that could grow and be appreciated with more time open or cellared. This is not an inexpensive wine, but was the one of the 7 tried at Bin604 that I elected to get a full bottle of after the tasting event.

Decanted. Lovely nose and body but light finish. Decent acidity worked well with food, in this case lamb burgers.
