Blind Dinner at Mark's (Chicago, IL): Served blind. Herbal, minty, and high-toned nose. You get a whiff of alcohol as well (more so than the 77 Taylor I was drinking yesterday!). Weird green note as well. Old Rioja? Cabernet franc? Slightly medicinal, which led me to the old world. A real enigmatic wine of which I couldn't make heads or tails. Weird stuff.

Still got some life in it. Decanted it and then served it blind. Most people guessed it was between 2003 and 2008, and most were surprised it was a 97 because of the great flavors and vitality left in it. Definitely on the decline, but still drinking well.

Corked. The underlying characteristics seem past prime regardless.

1.5L - Needs more time. Very good now, but should age very well.

This was surprisingly good for a merlot. Went great with grilled flank steak.
