OK, it poured brick red rather than bright red and yes the fruit was a little muted, but overall, for a merlot that's 11 years old, this was tasting very good. Dark red/blue plums on the nose and palate with soft tannins and acidity. Very enjoyable.
Some tannin and decent acid remain. Bright fruit on the nose lead to strawberry, fig, and soft vanilla on the palate. Some earthiness and darker fruit on the finish. A solid drinker. I doubt it has much left to give with more time.

- Garnet color - Miles never tasted Hall. First aroma to hit you is milk chocolate, followed by strawberries. Strawberry dipped chocolate - yes that's the best aromatic descriptive, followed by maple syrup. Taste does not let you down. This wine bursts with red fruits, followed by pleasing tannins. Just right on the finish, timed it at 1 min. 15 seconds. So this is what a merlot should taste like!!

A delicate-delicious wine! Definitely a very good wine, showing a sumptuous harmony and a delicate-delicious taste. What Merlot should be, right at its peak now; It is worth mentioning, a good QPR too!

A really nice effort showing spice, blueberries, oak, vanilla and cherry notes. Medium finish and should evolve into one of the best Merlots from the vintage.

3 From Hall (Bloomington): Very nice wine with spice, blueberries, oak, vanilla and cherry. The palate shows a nice balance of fruit and earth character. Good concentration and medium finish. Recommended and drink now or in five years.

Decanted for 2 hrs. Had with grilled center cut pork with a mustard sauce. Decent, but I just cannot jump on the love bandwagon for this wine. From some ofthe reviews I was hoping for a discounted Pahlmeyer. $20.

This will surprise you, balanced, complex, fruit forward. I must say this is an out standing QPR. I love their 06 NV Cab, but this is a close second. Great Merlot, I believe the varietal is coming back and that is a good thing.

This is a simple Merlot. Big dark and red fruit and oak component that is not integrated. Finish is all vanilla and chocolate which is taken over by alcohol.

Enjoyed over the course of two days. Definitely a big Merlot that needs some decant time to open up and integrate. Great value for the price. $19.99 at Costco.
The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Blackberry, Cherry, Toast, Cinnamon, Chocolate, and Cool/Menthol. It tastes like Blackberry, Cherry, and Mineral. The body is Medium. The wine is textured Smooth. The wine finishes Medium.

Had brother and sisters over and tried a few bottles of wine. This on got high reviews -- Very Good-a high end Merlot/dark fruits/great finish/ruby in color/medium body/soft tannins--great value (wife liked it-will buy more)

Eh. This bottle is not nearly as good as the '06 cab and is certainly not worthy of the high CT scores below, in my humble opinion. A decent QPR, but nothing to write home about.

Decanted 3 bottles of this '06 Hall Merlot along with 3 bottles of the '06 Hall Cabernet for 2 hrs and this Merlot was uncomparably the WOTN. If you are drinking this Merlot now, let it open up for a few hrs. Amazing dark cherry flavors with a fabulous lush sweetness and great finish. I am giving this a high score, because the QPR warrants it and it could give any other cab in this price point a run for its money. A go-to winery for reliability.

Quite a change. Some VA and a little alcohol on the nose, actually it almost smells like a high end premium Napa cab a little. But the palate doesn't match the nose, unfortunately. Still delicious, gained some character since a year or so ago. Tannins are very soft, this is perfect for drinking now.

Much better than the 05 in my opinion, but it's pretty standard higher quality Cali Merlot. No hard edges, good fruit and tannins, well made, but maybe boring.

Smooth and definitely not too old. Hints of grapefruit but not bitter. Excellent with ribeye steak. Doesn't burn on way down.
