Initially it was restrained but after an hour or so it just exploded....we couldn't believe it. Really a good wine for price. Lots fo earthy flavors and good acidity. It will go for another 5 years.

Pretty tight and a little bit out of balance right now. Tart cherry with some underlying earthy tones. Can tell there is some good fruit under there, but just not coming together quite well just yet.

Brought this to a restaurant where our dinner party ended up drinking two other bottles of 2006 barbera. This was the leanest of the three. Red and black currant profile, with bright acidity and a little greenness. My favorite of the three barberas, incidentally, was the Luciano Sandrone.
