Was a little oaky at first but a few hours of air allowed excess sweet vanilla to blow off and the nose to open up to tobacco and herbs - fresh rosemary. Fruit profile of cassis and blackberry still has good concentration. Tannins are soft.
Maybe better on day 2! I think this one has at least a couple years left to shine.

Tasted with the rep. 100% Cabernet from the prior Parallel estate. Deep red color with slight haze. Aromatic with age. Aromas of strawberry, black cherry and must. Off dry with a medium full body. Crisp acidity. Low tannins. Good balance Flavorful with blackberries, green pepper, black pepper and plum. Medium finish. Very good.

Decanted about 1 hour. Cab as Cab should be at this price point. Lot's of spice and fruit on the nose. Very dark garnet in color with great consistency. Leather, pepper and earth on the taste made this an exceptional experience. Full of flavor but not over the top in a good way. This can be drunk now or it should continue to age gracefully. Very sad this is my last bottle. Outstanding.

Brought this '06 Estate to dinner a top notch steak house in Chicago with friends. Pnp and threw into the decanter. Amazing nose and this wine is just stunning and beautiful right now! Still lots of noticeable oak, jammy black fruits and amazing structure with silky tannins and lasting finish....everything you could ask for in a cal cab. I've been drinking it over the past 3 years and it's never disappointed. Asked the restaurant Som to have a taste and he was equally impressed for a cab in this price range. Melka is a master and I think the '06 Parallel trumps the '07 for my palate - just sad it was my last bottle.

It had been about 1 1/2 years since this was last tried and the notes are very similar. The wine has aged and softened but was drinking fantastic. Enjoyed this wine a great deal.
Decanted about 2.5 hours. Paired with a hearty grilled NY and was not disappointed. Lot's of spice and fruit on the nose. Very dark garnet in color with great consistency. Decanted for about 5 hours. It developed the full package. Cherry on the nose. Smooth taste long finish. Very, very nice.
We compared it to a Ravenswood Zin as our second bottle. There was just no comparison. The Zin is still felling bitter in my mouth in comparison and it's over an hour since I last drank the Parallel.

A massive wine with excellent dark fruit throughout. Blackberries exploding into a cassis with a complimenting amount of oak. An extended finish seemingly going on for days. This is a well done wine with truly excellent polish and complexity.

2009 Family Winemakers of California San Diego Tasting (Del Mar Fairgrounds): This thing is dark and sinister on the nose with explosive aromas of Worcestershire sauce, cassis, herbs, and blackberries. Ripe and gripping on the palate with good balance, this offers dark berry and cassis fruit along with hints of charred oak and spices. Superb concentration and character to the fruit and firm tannins. Sure this may be showing a touch of VA but it is obviously a young beast that offers plenty of complexity and structure to hint at what it will offer in the future.

What a pleasant wine. On the nose spice is big. Almost zinfandel-isn. But, on the palate this is classic Cali Cab, big, fruity, delicious!
