Absolutely delicious. Silky smooth. a little ripe. I felt like I was being a tad harsh, b/c I prefer, at least in memory, the amazing WesMar Olivet Lane. But this is a great Pinot, especially in that California style, but not over the top.

deep garnet in color. nose of cola and rose petals. silky on the palate with a fresh tartness and flavors of stewed berries. good but not attention-catching.

Rose petal aromas with notes of chocolate. Berry flavors, some flowers (roses again) with chocolate picking up on the finish. Medium body. Paired with Keta salmon and black cod.

Blind Pinots, cheeses, and charcuterie (my place): nose: tight at first and takes a while to open up with tones of menthol, black cherries, rich tones of dark berries, black and red licorice along with some bits of brown sugar. Excellent depth with good rich fruit
taste: very good medium feel with medium+ acidity and good tannins providing tones of dark berries, black cherries, bits of spice and brown sugar. Rather young on the palate, but there is a real vibrant take on the tones
overall: this had gotten a good 2 hours in the decanter and didn't really open up until it had about 5-6 hours of air. Certainly needs some more years, but the underlying material is really good. The fruit has a tart quality to it, but this is far from loads of candy and cola. This could be a real stunner when its ready

Blind Pinots w/Dinner & Charcuterie (Wilmette, IL): Tasted blind (but knew it was Pinot). Faint crushed red cherry, some slight brown sugar & a little spice on the nose. In the mouth it's of medium weight with good structure & balance throughout. Mixed red berries but eventually strawberry becomes most noticeable. Dark spices are sprinkled throughout and become more prominent & toasty alongside dark red fruits on the finish. Good acid gives it a fresh feeling. 90-91

Tasting at Merry Edwards (Merry Edwards Winery, Sebastopol, Sonoma County, CA): Clear medium ruby color; Tasted at the winery. Average+ structure with Pinot cherry and spice flavors. High acidity on the finish made it a bit sour. This had the singularity of a single vineyard wine but lacked overall complexity. Tasted at the winery.

Robust, vanilla and molasses on the nose. More funk and shrooms than the Kopp. Layered and still a bit riper or jammy as a whole. Very silky and well textured palate with a nice finish. Certainly New World in style. American oak showing very well. Very enjoyable. Come back in a couple years.

Purchased off the list at the Lark Creek Cafe, Walnut Creek. Opened and decanted approximately 45 minutes. Strong black cherry nose. This wine needed decanting and is still too early to fully appreciate. On the palate: dark syrupy notes of cherry, black cherry and dark sweet fruit. As this wine is still so young there was a narrowness to it, that will only expand with some time. Good to Very Good. This could be a knockout in the future.

Starting to fade. Still elegant. Dried cherries, vanilla, and floral notes.

Love Merry Edwards. This one did not deliver. Too much fruit and little else.

deep garnet. restraint is the word that comes to mind when drinking this. it has juicy acidity, red fruits, but a bit too much oak, still.

Popped and poured at a restaurant. Great color, rich and beautiful on the finish. Clearly out-shined the nice '02 Burgundy that we ordered next.
