  • Weelend with Friends and Wine; 9/3/2023-9/4/2023 (Asian Spice House - Buchanan MI): Opened alongside the 1993, both enjoyed over dinner and lunch the next day. Black and riper fruits here, less harmonious on Night 1, but with excellent density for its level. Wonderfully spiced. Better yet on Day 2.

  • I loved this. Decanted for an hour+. the perfume was hauntingly beautiful and quintessential Burgundy. Lithe yet full, red fruit, great acidity, long long finish. WOTN for everyone at the dinner. Most certainly over priced, but ded punches well above the weight of a villages.

  • Medium red; mellow nose, light strawberry, hint of vanilla and licorice; soft and mild, light expression with good body, slightly tannic ending; very agreeable / likeable, but price / value balance is not ok

  • Drank with Pacalet. The wine was so tight tonight. Would not have thought its a 06 leroy. The nose still had the leroy flower and red fruit. This wine has years to go. This is an 06 that will for sure improve with more time. 92+

  • After a few years should be more evolved but somehow this sample is more fruit forward and with more ripeness. Seems like it still need a few more years to develop but at this point can see the potential for this wine. Not bad with a few hours of air but even better with a few more years of bottle age.

  • Birthday dinner at Skirt, W Hotel. First Burgundy of the year and what a special one it was. Dark red. Bouquet was very muted open opening. Hints of dark currants and violets slowly and steadily emerged over time. Palate was tight, tannic and full of rusticity and tight grip. There were dark currants, chocolate powder and smoke intitally. After an hour and a half the wine evolved completely. Nose was absolutely sensual, elegant, sweet with mocha, sweet cherries, grapefruits and smoked meats. Palate was very silky and velvety, the rough edges and tannins had softened, and in its place was lovely red cherries, orange peel, grapefruit, chocolate, manuka honey and fresh leather. There was the signature Leroy floral notes, the sweetness and the elegance on both nose and palate. This was an amazing wine, I don't regret opening it at 9 years of age, because the way it evolved and developed was truly fascinating. Great way to begin the year, and yet another Lalou masterpiece.

  • I must declare that I'm not always a fan of this domaine and this wine (unlike the 07 which was outstanding) is an example of why. Too much oak being the main issue almost pine like. Completely swamps the fruit which is not overly subtle either. At $300 a major disappointment.

  • Nice ruby color with slight brownish tone. Nice typical Leroy stemmy red flower nose with slight perfume. Medium plus palate that is quite approachable with well defined structure. Got much better with an hour of air, very elegant and hard to locate its NSG origins except for slightly rough tannins. Not one part particularly stood out but the sum of its parts very well balanced and in perfect harmony. Approachable now but will keep for a much longer time.
