  • Zoom blind tasting #5: Syrah (At home during circuit breaker): Pretty good - a wine for the wine geeks. There was unusual nose on this one, with a green tone the first thing that struck me - almost asparagus or capsicum - and then rather high-toned notes of sweet strawberries, red berries and darker-skinned cherries, leading into a nicely earthy, slightly spicy undertone. Pleasant actually, bringing to mind Loire on that bouquet, with a bit of strawberry Fruitella sweets thrown in for good measure. The palate was similarly edged with a bit of green, but there was more going on here as well, with fine-boned but firm, chewy tannins and very bright acidity framing a bright mouthful of red berries and cherries riding on more savoury bed of earth and mineral. With some time and air, a warm peppery spice started coming out as well. There was a nice pure quality to this. A rather light, lithe, elegant expression, but very amply structured too - it was enjoyable enough with a bit of food. It is still in its youth though - this would be interesting to try in another 6-8 years where, hopefully, the structure will tame a bit and the wine will integrate and gain a touch more complexity.

  • Cellaraid Discovery Box; 5/19/2017-5/26/2021 (Delivered to Home): what stood out were the tannins and alcohol - felt like a fire on my palate without the smoke; red cherry, leaf, grass, capsicum; not really for me... :(

  • Wow. most extraordinary for Languedoc-Roussillon . I have had one better before, but that was a tiny production. pic st loup, I got in France. The nose is nice, and fairly typical (lots of tar) , but the palate is amazing. Nice complexity (see notes for flavors, though I get lots of black cherry) , finesse in the balance, softened tannin, and surprise, medium body and alchohol. Nice lingering finish. So glad I waited 2 years to try this . So bizarre, the import label says burgundy wine(wtf?)

  • Ready to drink in my opinion Evolved, earthy with nice ripe fruit with a touch of funk.

  • Deep ruby core, a little development at the rim; quite closed - some tarry mineral black fruits and raspberry aroma; medium to full bodied, lovely velvet texture and fresh cool dark berried fruits, mineral complexity. Good balance. Very well made.

  • The best wine I have ever had from the Languedoc, well balanced and very Rhone like in style but with more freshness and floral aromas from the dominance in the blend of the Carignane grape plus to a lesser extent Grenache, Mouvèdre, and Syrah. #Carignane #rocdanglade #remypedreno

  • nose of dark plums, cedar and hints of dark florals. Silky smooth wine that slips down easily, velvety tannins, dark fruit, some cigar, and earth. really like this wine

  • Didn't have a decanter available but recommend it. As a PNP there were some Northern Rhone flavors and mouth-drying (but not bitter) tannins. After an hour of air it absolutely blossomed: red fruits and roses on the nose. A crescendo of raspberry and red currant, asian spice, a touch of black cherry, keeps rising in intensity for the first 30
seconds, coats the palate with bright flavors, to a 90+ second finish. Structured and sophisticated. Fruit balanced by tannins and oak, clear potential for laying down for a few years, but sadly was 1 bottle of 1. Wonderful.

  • Deep colour, still very youthful ruby. Nose has some reduction and palate a bit of CO2 but after a couple of hours these sorted themselves out and a beautifully elegant wine emerged. Burgundian in style and finesse, this is still very closed up and the middle palate needs lots of air to open up. Initially a touch hard on the finish but this resolved itself with time in he glass. Not as instantly approachable as the 2005 at this stage but a little bit of patience should see this blossom. Ideally hold this until 2014.

  • Deep leathery, red & black currants & forest floor nose. Needs air. Concentrated, silky, smooth, dark ripe plums with some kirsch. There is power here but with finesse & complexity. A touch of bitter chocolate on the medium length finish.
