A more subdued viognier (perhaps that's the age)... the aroma is rather small here. It does open up a touch given some time, and has just a touch of an almost funky quality, and some floral notes. The flavor is rich, fruity, initially has just a touch of sour. After opening up, the fruit takes over.
Still good, but there's better (younger) viognier wine out there. Tasted at about 64°F.

Very unusual, but well, let's face it, most viogniers are not your typical white wine. Clean cooling nose with hints of acid, fruit, mineral, and distinct low tones of fresh foilage or budding flowers. In the mouth starts off with a very warm pulse of acid and fruit at the center of the tongue, accompanied then by an almost bitter-almond taste and light lemony citrus with a touch of sugar. Finish is more vaporous than liquidy and lingers in the center of the tongue. Dryish. Body medium minus, acid medium. Would buy a bottle to share with three wine friends, just for the experience.

Roberta & David Errenreich's Dinner Party; 8/27/2011-8/28/2011: Green color aroma of bell pepper. Taste bell pepper and orange rind. Good but unexceptional Viognier.
