Mild vegetal aromas, dark ruby color, tannins hardly perceptable, ripe cherry flavors, no hard edges. This is a competent value wine that I would never reject, but its too benign, it could use some enhanced tannic structure, and more acidity to make it more appealing/interesting.

Hennepin Lake Tasting; 10/20/2010-11/12/2010: This is a solid effort for under $10. Medium purple and a nose of smoke, plums and cherry. On the palate it picks up leather and earth. Also there is some sweet fruit. Medium finish and a crowd pleaser.

Wine has structure and real guts. Chewy leather, pepper and dark plums and meaty, like some of the aussie types. Medium body, slightly tannic that nellies in the back of the throat. A well structured wine.

Nothing remarkable about this wine. Everything is kind of muted. Color is dark with no brightness, but not dull. Aroma is pleasant, but not striking. Flavor has some dark fruit with a little acidity to create juiciness, but it only gets half way. No tannins to speak of. Medium body and no finish. Must step up the quality scale to get a better wine.

This seems to be losing steam and just wasn't as good as the first bottle we had. Dominant Syrah flavors, or mesquite and dark fruits, but it's relatively thin, with a very abreviated finish.

The fruit is not bad, but it seems like there is a LOT of false oak in this wine. The saving grace of this wine is that I got is for $9, but it's probably not worth a rebuy. Dumped the 2nd half of the bottle a few days later.

Lots of smoked meat on the nose and palate, with elements of vanilla, pepper, currant and even a touch of cranberry. Very soft, with little tannin structure and a somewhat abbreviated finish. Would recommend.

Very impressive given the price. Loved syrah-like vegetable notes. Got better as it opened up.

In the Aussie style. Jam. A bit of smoke. Suitable for any occasion.

Full bodied and very fruity. Tasty if pretty typical. Little complexity. Still, a fair value for $12.

Too much oak and not enough fruit to balance. Short finish.

P&P. I enjoy Columbia Crest Grand Estates label. But this is disappointing. Overkill of oak and didn't taste much fruit at all.

Good wine- smooth, nice finish, reasonably interesting fruit. Loses something as it airs out over a few hours.
