NYE wine with beef tenderloin - went well. Opened with some funk and vegetable aromas, which faded over time - needs at least a 30 minute decant, but a 2 hr decant and drink worked well. This also added weight over time. Vibrant dried fruit, licorice, anise, leather, Smooth tannins. Showing more cab than syrah (does anyone know the %'s), but definitely still a blend. Best sip was the last. It's OUT OF THIS WORLD. :-)
The alcohol was a bit overblown for me. Everyone else was loving the big fruit and oak notes. Overstated in my mind. Still had nice life left, but ready to drink for sure.

At its peak. This cab/syrah blend is less sweet than some before it but still +15% which is typical for Behrens. I found it quite enjoyable. Soft nose of flowers and berries. Tannins were in the back seat and the palate was very round.

Decanted and drank with friends? I found this wine to be very smooth and drinking well now. Long finish, nice fruit, almost a sweetness on the finish. All in all a solid bottle of wine.

Sampled 3/18/11. Dark purple color. Smooth (as many B&H wines are) but also plenty of alcohol (as many B&H wines are). Either this wine is in a bit of a dumb phase or the fruits just can't fully emerge and separate themselves to create distinctive layers. Some Oak. Given that most B&H wines are built for speed, I'm not sure this wine will ever fully come around and develop into something interesting. Too bad.

Fruit still bright with nicely balanced softened tannins. Drink up, not going to improve any more
