Drinking about as good as it will get. Slightly over ripe with a medium finish. Way better than a stewy bottle I have from a different source 6 months ago.

Medium ruby colour, some signs of aging but colour doesn't look too aged. Elegant and sweet aroma, not as masculine as other Gevrey grand crus. Good intensity with hints of mineral over fruits. Not as warm nor dark as some of the 1990 could be. Take some time to open as we drank over 3 hours. Finish shorter than the last bottle though. Good but not great. Not as impressive as my memory suggests. Could be still closed? 16/20

At a large dinner party tasted 4 1990 Grand Cru Burgandy's: Clos de La Roche Ponsolt, and 3 Louis Jadot's Chambertin, Rucholtes Chambertin, and Romanee Saint Vivant. They were all outstanding with nice fruit and a little spice - very complex, well balanced acid and tannin with a long finish. I gave 94's to the two Chambertin's and 95's to the other two.

Still red with only some bricking at the edges. Sediment etched into side of the bottle, only a little wine up the side of the cork, this one was stored well... Bouquet of dried flowers and herbs, powerful attack with deep concentration and still enough acidity. Complex herbal notes round out the long finish. It's clear it's from a hot year but it doesn't overwhelm, lovely wine!

Dinner after HDH Tasting (The Duck Inn - Chicago IL): Very ripe black fruit with some summer flowers. Some thought this perhaps heat damaged, but I found it to be just very ripe and slightly short on acidity, so advanced more than the best of the 1990s.

Forget what you think of Jadot cause this wine is a magnificent specimen of burgundy. We opened and served and indeed that was the right strategy and served it with the cheese course. It followed a line up of Lynch Bages 96 (Papies 93)and Gruaud Larosse 89(Papies 93) and blew them out of the water. The colour is light red with touch of brown on the rim, still vivid. The nose is a beautiful mix of strawberry, cherry and earthy notes, open, long and we just kept on going back and back to this. On the palate it is well aged but very much alive, with lots of energy and depth and a great level of complexity. Just magical at this stage and we would struggle not to open more of this now rather than wait longer, that is if we had any! 97 easy and drink now.

Dark fruit, dried cherries, very earthy, mushroom, meat, almost barnyard, lovely. Spiciness hard to describe, but there. Finish long and supple, nice structure from smooth tannin.

Strong and distinct aromas of cooked cabbage, mushrooms, meat, and earth on the nose. Much better on the palate with mellow cherry flavors, an assortment of warm spices, earth, and beautifully resolved tannins. This wine still has a core of sweetness to it. A 93 point wine in the mouth, but it could not overcome the strong cabbage smell. Bottle from on-line auction.

Ripe but not roasted, black cherries and plums, some coffee and smoke. Holds up well for several hours, with some sandalwood with time. A-/B+

Beautiful ruby. Very clean nose. Great fruit and quite a mouthful. Nice long finish. A perfect bottle been in cold cellar since release.
