Not your typical Meursault, and especially from the Charmes. Tight and mineral, light on the oak, stony, sharp and very young. Nice to come across a pure expression of the fruit rather than the usual over oaked versions. Needs time to develop further we believe. 91 for now from us.

Alex's Promotion Party (Alex and Fiona's in AMK): Decent enough, but this paled in comparison to a lovely bottle of 1981 Lafon Meursault Charmes that we had alongside. While the previous bottle seemed more youthful than its 33 years, this was conversely rather advanced, so that we all guessed that it was quite a bit older than 2007. The nose showed rich aromas of ripe white fruit and buttery Meursault tones along with bits of spice and mineral. Likewise, the palate was surprisingly rich for its vintage, with ripe yellow fruit at the fore. This was cut by some of acid and mineral of the vintage, which gave the wine a nice linearity, but the enduring impression I got though was still one of weight and ripeness. It finished with a flush of warmth and a twist of bitterness that distracted slightly, but it was otherwise a decent enough wine.

Elderflower, some oak still present but not toasty at all. Quite reserved, Puligny-style wine from a plot bordering with Puligny.

Tight creamy low toned stonefruits , a little stingy and unready. Felt opulent with shadows of it's terroir.

Denne begynner så smått og avrundes. Bra vin, men som "alle" andre Mersault'er behøver den litt mat attåt.

Matvin som vil behøve noen år i kjelleren for å avrundes.

Tasting with Francois Mikulski and David Croix (Camille Giroud): so elegant, dry finish which just goes on and on. I really liked this wine. Vines are almost 100 yrs old if I understood M Mikulski correctly.
