  • A beautiful bottle of classy, mature Burgundy. It smelt of sandalwood and other sweet spices. There was a touch of earth too. In the mouth it was fine, delicate and lacy with delicious vinous sweetness and rocky detail. It really fanned out on the finish and had terrific persistence.

  • Unlike its younger, vibrant, red fruit dominated and spicy bonnes mares counterparts, it displayed notes of candied modena, blackberry liquor and earthy forest floor. Retained a silky, unctuous mouthfeel with subdued hints of spice, dust, licorice and wet tobacco leaf. Had become more like a darker musigny in its old age and, while past its prime, still drinking with brooding structure and mysterious refinement.
