some funk upon opening, majority blew off after an hour but lurking. deeper red fruits, earthiness, good acidity. more of a masculine expression of the grape

Pnp. Had with meatballs. Alongside a 2011 oregon pinot to contrast. This clos des mouches was dark colored dark fruit dark cherry. No funk. No spritz. Almost like a russian river pinot minus the cherry cola. 13.5% is ok even tho I tend for lower. Still has a mild tannic bite surprisingly. Great juice.

I still struggle in this category and starting to learn. I know I like northern rhones i.e cote rotie, hermitage, etc. However, there is soooooo much to learn it makes it difficult to keep pace. Now my best ability to describe this wine is elegant, soft, lushous, beautiful aromatics and soft cherry fruit, raspberry, chocolate on the palate. Soft tannins and so much more forgive my inability to describe. Beautiful wine.

Pretty darn fresh but starting in on some great secondary notes. Gosh darn is that an amazing and seemless palate. Smoke and salt and pepper on the nose with dark smoked cherries. Just opened too. This is awesome stuff.

Paired nicely with pork roast and while hoped for more on the nose, nice cherry fruit.
