Lovely wine but really needs time to open up. Once there it explodes with beautiful red berry and cherry fruit. Sage, sandalwood, flowers and basil on a long finish. Grippy tannin that round and smooth with air. Balanced and smooth. Drinking great now but will last a little longer. Drink now-2020.

Expected more. Strawberry based fruit, sage, brush, still mildly acidic, lacking in complexity. Entering the mature phase, with delicate undertones taking place of the more primary fruit driven flavors. Still, just too simple and doubt that additional aging will change that.

Another '04 that seems to be hibernating now. But even with plenty of decanting the following day, you have to work hard trying to coax the delicate aromas from this slumbering wine. Will chalk it up to the longer waiting times for the northern exposure Brunelli, but wonder how much fruit will eventually emerge from the combination of the wood treatment and maturation. Hope to be rewarded for patience -- will leave it alone for at least another 3-5 yrs. Suspect I may need to wait longer still.

@ Zia Lina. Certainly smooth and refined, but a bit too mild. Best with food, but not enough boldness to stand out. Too much nuance, yet a bit harsh without food. Decanted 1-2 hours. Was a very good wine, but expected more. Have had better 2004 riservas.

Winebow Trade Tasting (Palomar Hotel): Another example of a wine that comes across almost too polished. For such a young wine this already seems pretty well resolved with chocolate, dark berries, tar and spice.

At first pour from bottle very tightly wound. Went into decant for 2 hours and it really opened up nicely. Still has legs to it for sure.

RussK WW holiday party at Morton's. My wine. Apparently, still too young, per H.O. Nice liquid mouth. Any also showed. 91
