Only Grand Cru fruit. Structured and intense, massive. Not massive just strikingly powerful. 92% Chardonnay, 8% Pinot Noir. So no Meunier. Only Grand Cru grapes. And they make the Pinot Noir themselves. 4 - 5 years aged. LEss because they want the right balance of acidity. Lower dosage as well. Clean and focused on the palate. ANd the reserve wine as well 40% three years back.

Dry but fragrant, soft bubbles, served after 2 hours in refrigerator (from 50F cellar). At $39.99 (from fire-sale Ritz Reserve offer at FBW) this was a fantastic QPR.

Shimmering pink salmon in color Nice smallish intermittent bubbles Red berries off the nose Lots of mousse. Dry but not aggressively so. Medium finish. More red berries (currents). Not a lot else going on. A good bottle of bubble, but lacks some depth. It could be more interesting. A 'one trick pony' IMHO. Good, but not great. Better value out there for sure. That being said, it worked well for a sunny day in Vancouver.

Pink salmon in color with aromas of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, almond, and slight apple skin with wet stone. Cherry, raspberry, and slight tangerine and citrus on the palate. Merry Christmas!

Champagne des Barons de Rothschild, Brut Rosé, NV: I was excited to try this new kosher champagne from the Rothschild family. As opposed to its « regular » Brut counterpart, this one is only available not mevushal. Bright salmon pink in color. On the nose, strawberries, cherries and ripe oranges, with a hint of toasted bread and dried rose petals. Light to medium-bodied, with fine mousse and medium-sized bubbles that gently ascend from the bottom of the glass. On the palate, tart raspberries and slightly green strawberries, a touch of yeasty sourdough, medium-plus acidity with some rose water bitterness on the moderately long finish. Pleasant and well-made although not terribly complex nor layered. 12% Abv. Drink now-2022. 90

Champagne Barons de Rothschild (London Wine fair): Brilliant old pink. Very fine and delicate at nose: roses and strawberries. Dry, medium structure, with acidity pushing a shy fruit aside. Tannic hints. 85% Chardonnay; 15% Pinot noir. WS: 91

NYE dinner with lobsters and this fit the bill quite nicely. Not an exuberant, fruity rosé, but a more austere, understated wine that relied on elegance. A bit of toastiness added some complexity, and went well with the buttery lobster.

- Pink color and aromas of apple, lemon and licorice anise. It's balanced and has flavours of strawberry, honey and violet with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish - I have had this Champagne many times and I truly enjoy it. It's always a winner with friends and has hardly disappointed. Matches well with grilled chicken or shrimp. My take is this is wonderful Rose Champagne and glad to have lots.

This seems more the product of a classroom exercise or laboratory experiment than it does a vineyard. Granted, it's got nerve, and focused energy, but perhaps too focused and too nervy. Which is to say there's nothing classic, or traditional about this; it seems forced. Notwithstanding all of that, it's a bright, somewhat mineral driven, cava-esque aperitif wine. Absent the complexity that lees, toast, less sterile fruit, and depth might bring to the table, what we have here is an enjoyable $35 sparkler. 12,0% abv

Sunset Corners Champagne Tasting (Miami, FL): This bottle might have been an aberration, but it was only OK and nothing exceptional. At a price over $100 I would expect more. Flavors were very light.

Dinner with Fellow Counsel (New Ubin Seafood): Actually really pleasant - this was quite a surprise. The nose brought to mind a Billecart-Salmon's Rosé, with strawberries and red apples aromas accompanied by a touch of funky earth and a little whiff of minerality. Very decent. The palate was pretty good to, with a fine bead and fresh acidity weaving through crsip flavours of strawberry and apples leading into a more citrussy, lemony finish. Nothing out of this world, but well-crafted and enjoyable, especially on a warm, balmy evening.

Pale salmon in color.
Strong nose of raspberries, strawberries, limes, green apples, minerals, yeast, spices and bread.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity and small bubbles.
Dry on the palate with citrus, white cherries, strawberries, earth, spices, yeast, apples, pears and light grapefruits.
Long tangy finish with light almonds.
This is a delicious Rosé Champagne from the house of the Rothschild family. Nicely balanced with a great mouthfeel.
Loved the nose here, and the bubbles are nicely integrated and not intrusive at all. Very easy to drink.
Really good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour of airtime.
Elegant and luxurious, with nice complexity.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with Avocado Tuna Tartar.
A blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Noir. Kosher and not Mevushal.
12% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$110.
