From magnum. Fantastic bottle. The wine had a very dark ruby color and a beautiful nose. On the palate, typical flavors of top-notch Super-Tuscan wines. Very long finish with well-integrated tannins. This is superb to drink now.

Ok. I am warming to this - big time. Still big and bold and brooding, but after a good decant I am starting to appreciate it for what it is - an outstanding wine. Liquorice and menthol. Plums and chocolate. Still super fresh, I think this is 5 years out from its peak. 4 more in the cellar to enjoy.

I am not going to get too carried away here. Yes, it is very good and will have a long life ahead, but it’s a bit too big for me. A steak wine for sure, lots of dark fruit and chocolatey aromas which carries through to the palate. Maybe a bit angular for my liking. It didn’t open up a whole lot even after 2 hours. Maybe in a dumb phase? Will revisit and will be proven wrong I am sure.

3/5

Took a couple of hours to unfold. Deep woody nose with currant and chocolate. Very warm. Palate is a bit brisk and is better enjoyed with food. Agree with others, in a good place but no rush.

P&P dark opaque black colour rustic style, rich dark fruits & herbal-spicy aroma & flavours, with liquorice & smoky notes; gradually within 30 min the aroma improves and turns to finer and more qualitative one mature fruits flavours in a rustic style, well structured, excellent complexity, full bodied, smooth round integrated tannins, good acidity level, chocolate & coffee flavours, thick & powerful, medium length finish. require early opening of 1-2 hours; can age further few more years and maintain current high quality. at its best now.

Empty Nesters for the first time - Open some bottles (Tom & Janet's): Great showing for this bottle. At age 14 it seems to be entering peak, but in no hurry of going downhill. This is a Bordeaux blend IIRC of mostly Cab, some Merlot and Petit Verdot. The nose is very nice with cassis, anise, cherries and slight dusty cigar box notes. complex and layered complexity on the palate. It unwinds in the glass beautifully. Nice acidity to work with food. Long finish. Just a really great wine at this stage. Don't miss it.

this wine shows little development and has a long future ahead but is very good. Still very dark ruby colour. On palate fleshy and lush, definitely oak still lingering (borderline in terms of influence but just the correct side of too much) with dark fruits and violet finish. will wait and see for more tertiary development as I would have guessed something like a 5 year old wine in tasting this.

great succes, open few hours before you drink dark purple at the nose the blackberry with licorice prevail. The tannins are now smooth and in your mouth you will taste some black pepper it lasts for a good minute, you can taste the minerals of this amazing part of Tuscany.Definetly to keep in the cellar. I would advise to have this wine with Red meat, hard cheese ,boar, pasta (bigoli) with pecorino and black pepper.

This wine has great potential but really needs a few more years in the bottle AND really needs several hours in a decanter to enjoy it properly. I decanted a bottle at 5pm and funneled it back into the bottle at 6:30 to take to dinner. At 7:30 had my first taste and it was flat, uneventful, and nothing special. I decanted it again and had another taste an hour later. The wine just started to open up and showed some promise but was still incredibly tight. Luckily we had other wines and could set this aside until about 10pm. At this point the wine started to show what it was truly made of and I could only imagine how delicious it will be in 4 or 5 years. Hold on to your bottles, be patient and you will be rewarded.

Grand Jury Chicagoan - 2001 Cab Merlot (Restaurant Michael): Gorgeous, crazy complex, lush and full nose has tar, dark currant fruit, spices with a huge mineral kick. This is gorgeous in the mouth as well as it covers the palate with an insane amount of rich fruits. Has complexity, balance and incredible length – with an array of flavors that linger for over a minute. This was the group’s second favorite wine of the flight with consistent high praise. My WOTF. 96-98 points

Big, dark red and full bodied with complex flavours of cherries, plums, spice, earth and smoke on the nose and palate. Wow. Incredibly smooth and opulent in the mouth with good acidity, chewy tannins and a long finish.
