Had this bottle with Matt-a friend online. Well actually it was not the same bottle. Very brief explanation. I had two bottles-sent him one and we agreed to open on the same day. My bottle when first decanted had a very sour nose and taste. It was that high pitched smell that is hard to put into words. Vinegar with a touch, just a touch of nail polish. Decanted two hours-still bad. Had a large party at our house and grabbed the decanter an hour after last assessment. Poof-the ugly elements vanished. In it's place on the nose was some dark fruit mixed with some sweeter bark notes. The palate emulated the same package. This was a wine that did not hit you over the head with weight but rather glided across the palate.
Decanted for 2 hours. Tasted blind. Received this bottle from a friend I met on Cellartracker, Dave (see his note as well) and the plan was to open the bottle on the same night to compare notes. When I told him I had a wine club meeting that night he said I could open it there. This had a beautiful nose of cedar, currant, cherry, plum and lead pencil. On the plate, this was bursting with flavor including notes of dusty berry, cherry, blackberry, earth and iron. Ended with a big iron finish with red fruit notes woven in. Beautifully soft tannins at this point that glide across your palate. Immediately looked this wine up and sad to see they are no longer making wine. Tried to find out who bought the vineyard and will have to keep digging. Shame Dave didn't have the same experience we had but certainly a fun little experiment! Thanks again Dave!

This wine is definitely a modern style Napa Cabernet. Pipe tobacco and Chambord on the nose. Deep dark fruit and cassis is delivered up front with some vanilla added on to the long extraordinary finish. This wine is nicely balanced too. It's a keeper.

Dense, mocha, coffee, and rich berry on the nose - one person accurately described it as liquid tootsie roll. Very ripe and rich, but it retained a freshness and brightness on the palate. There is a slightly redder fruit profile on the palate as well. Unfortunately there is noticeable heat on the finish (not surprising considering its labelled at 15.7% alcohol).

I am finding with my cellar that wines need to mature a few more years than normal. During the coldest part of winter the temperature can reach 52 degrees. (Summer 65) With that being stated the following. The wine has exceptional clarity. The edge still displays slight purple that is also revealed in the nose as a wine in need of aging. Tannic and closed. Muted nose revealing currant and higher toned fruit. Taste is tight revealing black cherry fruit. Hope this wine reveals itself in a better format a couple years down the road. Was hoping to be impressed. Not the case at the current time.

Extremely dense, yet very refined. The wine has tiers of black fruit and fine new oak. Intense floral notes emerge as the wine unwinds. Palate is full, but sits lightly in the mouth. Has several hallmarks of a true cult wine. There is an elegance to the 2007 that few of Marks other wines have. Exceptional. - Bellagio at olives.

Magnificent wine. Bold yet refined. All the traditional Cab flavors one expects, but with a balance and purity that stands out. Will age gracefully for sometime...

Just on the verge of sweet. Good wine if you like less pepper and more sweet. Overall good wine.
