A bit musty at first but it blew off eventually to show an elegant, mature Chambolle with subdued silky cherry fruit and hints of hoisin and soy sauce and minimal acidity. Finishes very elegant and smooth with a touch of complexity along with notes of mushrooms and funky earth. Drink up.

Ledbury Chassagne/Chambolle lunch (Ledbury): The 2000 and 1999 were both charming, approachable, and pretty. The 1999 had a deeper colour, seemingly more serious with its tannic body. Purity delivered with authority. Long, soft, tannic finish. This is a lovely wine that surely has a long way to go. exc

Filippo's Fourrier @ Trompette (La Trompette, London): Blind. Quite dense, a little dusty. Some acidity and a slight bitterness on the finish. Somewhere between swimming pool and corkiness. Off anyway.

Not bad, just not what it should have been. Correct but plain. Did not live up to the promise of the prior bottle.

Charming wine, a bit lighter color than I thought but deeper flavor
Sweet red fruits, med long, round and clean
The 99's really seem to have it all

Showing a little tight. Yes, it will get better. But no crime to dip in now. This stuff is lovely: taught, fresh, delicate, aromatic.
