  • Wow, what a wine! This was a special Library Release directly from the estate's cellars (never moved). At almost 30 years of age, it is still very young-tasting, with significant layers of fruit. While just noticeable as California – due to the rich fruit core – it could almost fool you into thinking mature Bordeaux. It still has a number of years to go, for sure, but is in its prime right now, based on the two bottles I've tasted.

  • a bit of brick at the edge of the glass but color largely intact; still pretty fresh plum, red currant and mushroom; pepper, tobacco and nicely integrated tannins at the end; a bit more body in this than in later vintages; easily stood up to bbq iron steak and veggies; this has aged very well
