  • Ahhhh, Gum Tree. One of my all time favorite Carlisle offerings. Soooo freaking sad that this treasure of a vineyard was ripped up years ago, as it produced some really unique and utterly singular wines. My favorite part? A VERY distinct eucalyptus note that sets this vineyard apart from all the other old vines. This 2000 is definitely past it's best, but I still loved it. Eucalyptus is front/center (Probably the defining note at this point) along with a little red fruit and ample acidity....but there's also some heat starting to overtake the fruit. I feel fortunate to drink this rare bird.....but if anyone else is holding any, drink up! It ain't getting any better!

  • Major nose and taste of spice box. Excellent and very different zin. Look forward to tasting more 2005s when they come of age. 2nd day was much improved, subdued flavors of eucalyptus. Great bottle of wine.

  • Delicious secondary flavors of tea, spice and cedar in nice balance of red fruit. A long tasty finish. The color is just now starting to turn red around the edges. Amazingly, on the second day the fruit had plumped up and was more jammy. Nobody needs to worry about drinking their Carlisle zins in any hurry.

  • ($30) Killer nose screaming with baking spices and Eucalyptus. Sweet, rich bramble fruit, crammed with flavor and interest. Spicy, jazzy, sweet. 125 cases. Includes some Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouschet. I love the spices on this wine.

  • ($30) Killer nose of Eucalyptus - I also heard bacon fat and olives tossed around. Maple. Red fruit. Nice.

  • ($24) Fantastic nose of pinon, eucalyptus, Asian spice and red fruit. Rich palate without the sense of weight you might expect from a 15.7% alcohol wine. Yum. After some time the nose evolved and took on a maple sugar component. Alcohol completely in check and well concealed. Includes some Petite Sirah and Alicante Bouchet.
