Consistent with my 2012 note. This bottle had a bit more spicy aromas. Tannins well integrated. Finish a bit longer with some bite. Went well with pasta.

Fine but generic. Garnet color. Nose of current, cherry and vanilla. Sweet and smooth with jammy fruits in the mouth. Short finish. Fine as a table wine but for $16 I would expect more.

the street price in USA is $9 -- and we pay $16 in Ontario -- no wonder I am unimpressed --what a bad QPR --- if I paid $9 I would understand -- but at $61 I can get much better

{screwcap, 14.5%, A$15} Long time since I've visited this end of the Penfolds portfolio. This wine is a good reminder of why. Good solid-looking ruby-red, although with a shallowness about it. The nose is all sweet ripe red fruits - quite anonymous and not especially cabernet-ish. Palate offers minimal tannins, sweet (and getting sweeter) red jubey-jamlike fruits along with licks of tar and soy, no real depth or persistence, moreover it tends to cluster around the front and sides of the palate; little mid-palate to speak of, and a warmish, faintly alcoholic and quite short finish. Mainstream international style, could come from anywhere, perfectly serviceable and utterly forgettable as well. Penfolds would do well to disassociate themselves from this style of wine altogether.

I think we waited too long. Simple, fruity, and not much tannins. Lacking in mouth feel but perhaps it was never there?

I really enjoyed this paired with a spicy Cottage Pie. The intense smell and strong taste of the wine really balanced out the taste of the food.

Nice aromatics, deep, dark, jammy berry fruit, decent balance with a medium finish and sweet tannins. A good gulping wine.
