(Mostly) Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Popped-and-poured, then served double blind. Seriously reductive with candied fruit, I thought this an awkward New World Pinot Noir. Lots of ripe red and black cherry with tart and bitter notes that I was unable to reconcile in my mind. Several hours in a decanter would have helped.

Half a dozen reviews and one score of 86, though others seem more positive. This is much better than 86, hence my 90. It opens quickly on pouring but will benefit from time in the glass or decanter. Definitely smokey as others have said. Good length. Plenty to chew on. Has time ahead of it too. Maybe up to 5 more years

Just about peak drinking for mine. Taking on some truffle and undergrowth development. There are smoked meat notes along with black cherry fruit. It has some sweet earth and a fine line of fresh, minerally acidity. There's good flesh with a gentle flex of muscle to the back-end.

Smokier than the Marlboro Man. There’s some forest floor development and powerful black fruits. It is dense and chewy with juicy acidity. Needs more time.

Good Wine with an Exciting Super Bowl (Chez Kailin - Northbrook IL): Small glass, brief note. This had been opened several hours earlier with a quick double decant. More black vs red fruit with brawny structure and lots of tannins, albeit near-soft tannins. Overall, still backward and just hinting at its potential. 89 points for tonight, but clearly still hinting at 90+ point potential

Immediately generously fruited and luscious, brimming with creamy cherries. It tightens in the glass and some earth and mineral notes come to the fore. It is a ripe wine and tannins are relatively sweet yet supportive. It is a delicious and balanced Corton of good depth and elegance.

I had two bottles of this. Hard and acidic, still lots of tannins and more barnyard than I thought. Probably drank too early, but had to see if the first one was flawed. The first bottle seemed more bretty than the second. Not In a good place right now.

2nd bottle of 6. Consistent with the last tasting note. Plenty of depth here, given time in a decanter
