This is still drinking well, and not much change from December 2021. Perhaps a little flatter. Damsons apparent, not so much liquorice. Still leather & cedar. I will plan to save the final bottle for a couple of years.

Superb. Dark red through to the edges, luscious fruit, black berries and red berries with hints of licorice and dark chocolate . Excellent length. Drinking a treat now but still has years ahead of it in a good cellar. 93+

Beautiful dense fruit on the nose. Lovely long palate with soft silky tannins. still has an intensity of acid after an hour decant. Wait another year before try again. Drinking well now but expect to improve with age. Will easily go further 8 to 10 years

Deep garnet. Loads of black fruits , liquorice, leather nose. Well balanced, medium plus tannins, full bodied. Cedar, black cherries, figs, tar palate. Outstanding wine with 5+ years of drinking still.

Dark ruby. Sweet black cherry, plum nose. Full bodied and to me still a little tight/closed. Dark fruits, earth, charcoal palate. Very good wine which still appears to have some life left in it. Three bottles left, so perhaps revisit in a year or so.

Nicely balanced wine. Refined with decent fruit, fine tannins and integrated acidity. Good example of a Stonewell. Will last a good few years from here.

Gave this a decant and three hour breathe before decanting back to the bottle. Absolutely humming when put to the taste test. Good body and length. Balance of fruit , wood, tannins and acid. In a very good drinking window now but will cellar for another 5 plus years. 93

Attractive bouquet of black plum, mulberries, bacon fat, dark chocolate and spices. The oak is supportive not upfront. The palate is rich, balanced and focused, purity of sweet black fruits with undertones of cinnamon and clove. Savory mid-palate, right level of acidity to carry the flavors to a complex smooth finish. Tannins are ripe, providing the support for aging.

This has really come into balance beautifully over the past five years. Glorious nose, sweet vanilla, plums and dark earth, beautiful rich but balanced palate of much the same. An excellent Barossa shiraz. At perfect drinking stage, but no hurry to consume. Highly recommended.

Luscious only word for it, smooth full bodied, ripe berries, subtle wood, smooth tannins and acid in balance. Dark, dark red right through to the edges, lingering delightful mouth feel. 93+

New World Shiraz gives you those jammy, powerful and chewy reds, which Slavic people like to call – serious wine. In the glass, this one is showing a deep inky black color and a rich nose with aromas of blackcurrant, sweet cherry, plum, kirsch and milk chocolate. Full-bodied and euphoric in the mouth, displaying dense texture, ripe tannins and tones of baking spices on the mid-palate transitioning into a minty aftertaste. Begs for decanting and serious food (Texas BBQ ftw). Smooth, sweet and so good.

True to its nomenclature it smells like a fusty well of stone. Not good. The palate is balanced and pleasant with a chalky sour fruityness. Like a melancholic lady on a swing afixed sturdily to a trusted tree branch. And she's wearing a bonnet.

Main aromas are cherries, oranges, spices, cherries and chocolate. I still think it is a very good to excellent wine. However I am a bit less convinced than before. You can feel the alcohol and it is a bit hollow. It lacks the complexity, depth and density compared to a Bordeaux in the same price range.

Dark inky purple/black, rich nose with blackberry, plum and hint of chocolate. Integrated oak, soft fruit but still with tannins along the backbone. Should last a while yet. Went very well with a score 9 wagyu. Decadent.

Almost one year after my first tasting note I must say it has improved slightly. And it was excellent before. This time I can feel an intense and heavenly cherry flavor. Red and wild berries, too. Also cinnamon and chocolate. And Maggi/Soy Sauce. In the finish tabacco leaves. Despite the 14.0% alc. don't serve this wine too cold. 16-18 °C will be fine. This wine is very fresh and attacks your palate but in a friendly way. The alcohol is well hidden in the extract. On the "empty-the-bottle-meter" it scored very well. This wine will go for another 5 years.

Deep intense purple, well integrated oak and fruit, needs decanting and filtering. Smooth velvety red, with less length than anticipated but still a very nice wine.

Color: Intense carmine red. You cannot see through the wine. Nose: Lush and warm, red fruits, spices. Mouth: Consistent with nose. The spices are more pronounced and there is plum, too. There is a notion of brown suger without being sweet. Finish too short for this caliber. Neither very complex nor thought-provoking. Still a very good wine but does not deliver considering the price. It was a perfect match with roast kid "à la provençale" and has earned 2 more points which is in the excellent range. A bit of an additional breathing has helped, too. Wrap-up: Bold, fruitforward wine that still is fresh and elegant and interesting as we are used with Peter Lehmann. Smooth mouthfeel. After some more breathing I can taste Cassis flavor. The 14.0% alc. are kept well in check. Decant for 1/2 hour at this stage. I almost emptied the damned bottle in one go.

Very deep, saturated ruby. Reserved nose with a dark fruity core and obvious oak that remains harmonious with the pure fruit. Deep, well focused, freshly fruited with well tamed tannins. Smooth and approachable.

As with most premium Barossa Shiraz the wines quality is immediately evident on the nose with a concentration of dark plum and quality tight grained oak. In previous years i have been sceptical of the Stonewell, with the fruit and oak not in proportion and caramel oak too evident, the 2008 is a welcome return to form.
The nose gives smokey oak with plum and blackberry accentuated by cedar, the wine has an elegance on the palate that showcases great fruit with christmas cake spices and dark fruits filling every corner of the mouth. There are fine tannins that bind the wine on the finish and will ensure the wines longevity over the medium term. Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink from 2014-2021)

Ripe dark fruit on the nose with roasted meat, cooling herbs, fresh liquorice, pepper and proportioned toasty oak. Fullbodied and well structured palate with intense cassis to plum fruit. Tight graphite character through the lengthy palate. Serious and helplessly young. Might open up overnight, but a shorter decant didn't do much. Anyway I'd keep for some 5 years before trying again.

Uncorked for four hours, served at room temperature. Color: Dark Purple. Nose: Black Liquorice, White Pepper, Black Currant, Coffee, Blueberry, Mint. Palate: see nose. Finish: Medium. Tannins: Medium. Alcohol: 14 % well integrated. Medium to full bodied mouthfeel with initial dark fruit and liquorice. Spicy midpalate transitions into a minty finish. Quite different from what I would expect from Barossa Shiraz. Feels more like European style but unfortunately lacking the oomph to go all the way. Still an interesting discovery that keeps me looking out for more Barossa offerings in the future. 88-89 points.
