One of the better Albarino that I've had, and certainly one of the more age-worthy considering how well it is drinking at 4 years old. Excellent peach and citrus nose, richer mid palate than most Albarino and also a much more notable salty/mineral component than many Albarino wines. Good finish as well. I expect this still has a few years left in it, but it's drinking perfectly right now, and I see no reason to wait.

Somewhere along the line I drank you, little rascal, for you are nowhere to be found in cellar or fridge. But I know I loved this last bottle as much as the first, regardless of whenever it was opened and with whom.

At its peak right now. Don't waste a minute. Open and enjoy Pionero to the fullest. The nose is filled with tropical fruits and wild flowers. The palate is ripe with summer peaches, fresh lemons and almond shavings at the finish.

This had an intriguing and expressive bouquet of cantaloupe, peach and mineral aromas. The palate was round and refreshing with flavors that followed the nose. It was a bit simple, but tasty none the less.

Tried a second time at a local tasting with consistent notes from my earlier tasting. High in acidity, with lots of peach and stone fruit flavors. Very funky nose and finish.

Opened as a replacement for a corked bottle. Similar to previous notes with the citrus and mineral notes coming through. Clean, crisp and enjoyable. Albarino makes a great food wine.

Yanks lose to Angels. But Pionero makes an excellent show on my palate. Motes consistent with previous bottles. Great Alberino. Update: Raised a point on the second day, as with previous bottle. As it takes on air overnight, corked in the fridge, this mellows into rounder, fuller flavor, increasing its luscious fruit but bringing out a note of almond on the finish. Muy bueno!

Drank a single glass at a restaurant in Austin. Strange nose plenty of peachy stone fruit but also a bit of a funky smell. Good fruit but an unpleasant nose. I love Albarino, but not a producer I would seek out.

Outstanding. Pale gden hue. Great legs. Light-medium body. Fabulous nose of melons and honeysuckles. Delightful palate of tart lemons smooth peach, and mineral notes at the end. Rich and soft mouth feel from start to lingering finish.

Consistent with previous bottle. The nose on this wine is really special. The palate was just slightly less impressive than the previous bottle in the acidity department.

In blind tasting of almost all chards I picked this out as albarino. Great nose of melon and pineapple little minerality. Great fruit and acidity. I thought beautiful wine.

Straw yellow color. Great nose of chalk dust, lemon, citrus oil, some floral notes. Really pretty. Loads of citrus flavors on the palate along with some pronounced minerality. Slightly chalky mouthfeel but balanced by strong acidity. Very clean on the palate with a smooth finish. Quite delicious and a tremendous food wine. At this price point, I wish I had bought a case.

Excellent Albarino, even better on night two. Light straw in color. Flowers and tropical fruits on the nose. Full and round on the palate, with a hint of mead at the finish. Bueno.

Palate doesn't keep up with the beautiful nose (floral, honeydew, peach, pear, stone), but still quite nice. Last of bottle #1 went into clams with linguine; bottle #2 was enjoyed while cooking and eating dinner.

Lush and lovely nose of flowers and melon. Round and rich in the mouth with gentle lemon zest and minerals. Fairly low acid may limit the foods it works with but it's terrific solo or accompanying pasta with tuna (and anchovy, garlic. chili flakes, parsley, pecorino Romano).

Light straw color, clear and clean. Pretty nose and palate of peach and apricot, some honeysuckle and a touch of earth. Smooth on mid and back palate, relatively short finish in this medium-light bodied wine. Could have scored with a bit more acidic backbone, but very pleasant with no off-flavors.

Only slightly better than average - good floral, watery plonk should you find yourself by the seaside in Spain and in need of a cheapish bottle to wash down some calamari, but otherwise nothing special. Not overly acidic if pleasant.

Lemon, mineral with a slightly viscous feel on the palate. Nothing particularly special about the wine.
