  • If you like this kind of modern powerful wine - and I do - then it is now in the right place to be consumed. It will of course hold for many years still with tons of fruit as well as integrated tannins - but quite enjoyable right now.

  • Color: even darker than the 04 Evangile
Nose: big powerful and meaty, black ripe fruits,
Palate: tons of power, coming after the 08 Lucien moine cazetiers & 04 evangile that exuded class & charm this is a muscular testosterone wine, lacking elegance, caramel, vanilla after taste

Vega Sicilia style me susurran.

Bebido a sorbitos, hoy no queremos tragos largos.

  • A very solid rivera del duoro. Strong smoked wood to the nose.

  • Decanted for 3 hours. Tasted blind. Dark cherry color. Grest nose, intense, voluptuous, a lot of fruit, blackberries, ripe fruit, some black pepper. Unlike the previous bottle, alcohol goes unnoticed. On palate it's plain great, balanced, smooth, present sweet tannins, rigth acidity and a long finish. To drink or hold... seems still has room to improve. 92-93

  • Chris Cannan Portfolio Tasting (St. Regis - Washington, DC): Another example of an over-extracted, overly synthetic tasting wine. Color is essentially black and I think Tanzer hit the nail on the head with the aromas of wild flowers, cherry-cola and dark fruit. I also picked out heavy oak and vanilla tones that made the nose come together in a dizzying melange of dense, clunky tones. The palate was tannic, muscular, and spoofy. It reminded me of drinking cherry-cola and whiskey...the smokiness of the whiskey and the synthetic cherry flavor of Cherry Coke. Actually, this was more like the vanilla cherry cokes I used to drink at a local diner near my house in Philadelphia as a kid. Sickingly sweet was great back then...not so much today.

  • 2010 - Cata especial Navidad (Versió Original): Dark cherry color, garnet rim. Impressive nose. Very concentrated, intense, ripe blackcherries, licorice, candy, a bit alcoholic. A bit dry and a tannic entry, red sweet fruit on palate, a silk glove in mid and end palate, very smooth. Wood is quite well intregated after being 30 months in barrel. With some time and temperature alcohol is a bit more present. Very long finish. This wine is too young at the moment and still has some alcohol pending to integrate. In a few years should be a few points higher.

  • 2004 vs. 2005 in Spain with Helio San Miguel (New York): Black with deep ruby rim. Nose of plum skin, dry grain, candied black fruits. With time more of an oaky/coconut character came out. Medium bodied on the palate with a touch of raisined, almost amarone like character. Group ranking #2, my #11.
