no decant; clean, coppered-red; nose of barn, black pepper, sage; nicely balanced, with full fruit, vigorous tannins; fresh black cherry, black licorice, sage, pepper; solid Chianti (actually this was the basic riserva, my mistake when entering the wine); 17.5

Dark red with light brown rim. Nose of ripe cherries and vanilla. Soft and sweet opening, good weight and long finish. Good, ripe Chianti reserva. On top now.

Very firm tannins that are really obscuring the potential of this wine right now. Needs some aging and I am going to buy a case of this low-priced Chianti. I think it will age similarly to it's neighbor Brunello wines and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. After a lengthy decanting noticeable ripe fruit although I couldn't place the exact flavor at the time. Others suggest cassis, maybe that was it...
I'm looking forward to tasting this again in six months!

nose is a bit close, still show a bid of ripe fruit, very smooth on pallet, spicy go all the way through to rather short finish, end with a little bit of mineral note. Good balance acidity.

Deep purple, oaky nose. Fruit appeared after about an hour of air. Cherry fruit and cocao. Good value but hold for 3 yrs or extended decant.

Tony's Dinapoli w/ family. $40.
This was much better than the '04 non-riserva. Smooth, with a touch of wood. Nice wine
