My first Bonny Doon sparkling and my first sparkling Riesling! Was pretty impressed on both fronts. Made using the traditional Champagne method this vintage sparkling is made with 100% riesling from the Ca' del Solo vineyard in Monterey County. Aged on lees for 30 months it shows all the characters of a great sparkling wine - subtle citrus character and bread.

Delicious. Nice balance of crispness and bright flavors. Tastes like there is serious aging potential, but not sure how the bottle-top closure affects aging. Anyone?? Keep it cold. Held up surprisingly well over two days with a basic stopper in the kitchen fridge.

Boony Doon Cellar Door - Lunch & Tasting (Santa Cruz, CA): Sweet apple and Neutra Air (aerosol deodorizer) on the nose. Light, crisp and bright on the palate with sweet green apple and pear. Nice.

Good, but QPR is lacking IMHO. Sekt is a beautiful thing, but it's not as lovely at $30.

On the sweeter side, quite fizzy. Not particularly complex, but a nice foil to spicy, salty, greasy food.
