  • This certainly could benefit from a decant. Initially closed and awkward but opened up a bit after 1.5 hrs. Apples, pear, green plum, starfruit, kumquat. This is both powerful and understated at the same time. Sappy. Medium to med plus acidity, med plus finish. A well crafted wine, this shines with food but lacks something without. Awesome with the turkey caprese panini we made for dinner. Screwcap; 14.5% abv; Imported by Oliver McCrum Wines.

  • I love the texture and acidity--a real sense of weight without any cumbersome feeling. The flavors took some coaxing and warming up to get to. Mango, lime, and sorrel flavors, with chestnut and mineral scents. A bit of alcohol mars the finish. 14.5% ABV. I'd like to see how a little time affects these.

  • Beautiful, clean, fresh and incising nose. Some citrus blossom, also tropical fruits, complex. The palate a contradiction, intense and powerful (14.5% Alc) and yet with fresh acidity, elegance, and a lightness of touch. Huge length. What a great wine. Outstanding. 92

  • One of the best Sylvaners I have ever tasted, from the steep terraced vineyards in the Eisacktal (near the town of Brixen). The Pligers family estate, one of the most successful in the South-Tirol region, is farming organically. The wine was aged partly in stainless steel (2/3rd) and partly in 15 hectoliter Acacia barrels (1/3rd). Intense straw yellow color and lovely bouquet with appealing scents of citrus fruit, green apple, fresh hay and some honey flavors. Complex palate mirroring the nose, offering vivid yellow fruit, a slightly oily texture and a fine supporting acidity. Refreshing, mineral aftertaste. Fits nicely with asparagus and fish. Drink it now and over the next 2-3 years.

  • Very pale yellow with an impressive mineral, citrus, herb, and wax nose. Steely, vivacious palate with great acidity. Aromatically just a beautiful wine with some real verve and precision. Loved this.
